Have you ever thought about prevention?

Earlier this year, we were introduced to Whitney, a student at the American University of Rome, studying Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Business and Psychology. FirstMed had already taken on four student projects by the time we met, and given Whitney’s talents, we knew exactly who to connect her with.

Aura Sacred Space is a yoga studio in Rome, owned and operated by Brandy and Rosangela, two Americans whose story is inspiring. Together, we teamed up to make something special happen. Whitney organized a rooftop yoga session with over 30 students, designed to help them decompress before finals and walk away with real tools for stress management. The energy on the terrace was special and FirstMed was happy to sponsor the light aperitivo that followed.

Whitney’s message stuck with us. When it comes to chronic disease prevention, it’s simple: do something small every day. Yoga, a walk, a facial massage, a run. A small action today benefits your mind now and your body’s future.

It has been a pleasure partnering with AUR on their Real Projects initiative, giving students in Rome hands-on career experience that helps them grow from students to working professionals with confidence.

Vitamin D and magnesium aren’t random trends. There’s a reason they keep coming up in mental health and brain ageing.

Low vitamin D levels have consistently been linked to higher rates of depression. It plays a role in brain function and serotonin activity, so when levels drop, your mood can drop with it. If you’re deficient, correcting it can make a noticeable difference in how you feel.

Magnesium works more on the nervous system side. It helps regulate stress responses, supports sleep, and stops your brain from being in a constant state of overdrive. When levels are low, you’re more likely to feel anxious, irritable, and mentally drained. Bringing levels back to normal can help you feel calmer and more balanced.

When it comes to brain ageing, both nutrients are involved in maintaining normal brain function. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to cognitive decline, and magnesium supports processes related to memory and learning.

So yes, they can help. But mainly when your body actually needs them.

They support the system. At the same time, they’re not a replacement for real mental health support.

Our team enjoyed attending yesterday’s lunch in Rome, bringing together the International Rotary Club of Rome, the British Chamber of Commerce for Italy, and the Commonwealth Group.

It was a great opportunity to connect with professionals and business leaders from around the world, share perspectives on current topics, and reflect on the importance of community and partnership.

In Rome, we’ve enjoyed supporting the International Rotary Club of Rome and the international service projects they help fund around the world.

Thank you to everyone involved for such a great event!

Last night, we gathered on the terrace at The American University of Rome with the AUR Business Club for a Networking Aperitivo.

Our CEO joined the evening to share his insights firsthand, setting the tone for an honest, inspiring conversation about what networking actually means, beyond buzzwords.

The is anything but a typical student organization. These are future leaders who design, order, and sell campus merchandise, reinvesting profits back into the club and operating with the structure and discipline of a real business, supported by AUR faculty. It was an honor to share the terrace with them.

Together, we talked about why real connections matter, how to navigate diverse international business environments, and what it means to build a career internationally.

To the entire Business Club, thank you for showing up prepared, curious, and engaged. And a special shout-out to club president Mariana Cunha, a true natural born leader.
We can’t wait to see what you all do next!
