Five weeks to heal then back to the pool with the Convatec Wound Hygiene Pathway and Aquacel® Extra™. 🏊‍♀️​

​After her last surgery, Anne expected she would have to wait 8 months for her wound to heal when she had to have another procedure²​

🟣 ConvaTips | Perché alcune ulcere venose non guariscono facilmente?

Le ulcere venose possono trasformarsi in lesioni di difficile guarigione a causa di fattori legati al paziente (età, patologie, ischemia) e alla lesione stessa (dimensioni, durata, infezione) (1).

In questi casi, un trattamento mirato con medicazioni antimicrobiche può fare la differenza (1).

📚 Un recente studio1 (Beraldo et al., 2025) ha dimostrato l’efficacia di una medicazione avanzata all’argento nel trattamento delle ulcere venose degli arti inferiori di difficile guarigione.

New NICE guidance on topical antimicrobial dressings. What does this mean for clinical practice?

The latest evaluation from NICE - National Institute for Health and Care Excellence provides important clarity on the use of topical antimicrobial dressings such as Convatec’s Aquacel® Ag+ Extra™ for locally infected leg ulcers, a topic of growing clinical relevance¹.

This guidance forms part of NICE’s Later-Stage Assessment (LSA) framework, which evaluates categories of technologies already in widespread NHS use in the UK. It specifically assesses whether differences in innovation, clinical effectiveness and patient benefits justify the price variation across products in the same category.

This insight is key for NHS commissioners, procurement teams, clinicians and patients alike, helping ensure decisions are driven by both clinical value and cost-effectiveness.

Non tutte le ulcere del piede diabetico (DFU) guariscono come previsto.

E anche se alcune scaturiscono da piccole mancanze, le DFU possono progredire rapidamente ed essere particolarmente suscettibili a ritardo nella guarigione, protraendosi per mesi o anche anni, aumentando il rischio di infezione e amputazione
