I was honored to be invited as a speaker at the 11th Congress of the Italian Society of Parkinson's and Movement Disorders (LIMPE-DISMOV), held in Rome from May 14-16, 2025.
My presentation focused on the state-of-the-art technologies for movement analysis in hyper- and hypokinetic disorders, with a special emphasis on sensor-based tools. I discussed the pros and cons of various sensor technologies including:
🏃♂️ Wearable IMUs (Inertial Measurement Units)
💪 Surface EMG for muscle activity monitoring
👣 Smart insoles and force platforms for gait analysis
🎥 Camera-based and computer vision systems for non-invasive full-body motion capture
📡 Emerging radar and optoelectronic sensors for indoor monitoring
This comprehensive overview highlights the role of artificial intelligence 🤖 in enhancing precision, compliance, and usability of these tools for clinical and research monitoring applications.
Thank you LIMPE-DISMOV for this opportunity to share insights and advances that will shape the future of movement disorder assessment.
