Può un'applicazione di tape migliorare la mobilità nei pazienti con Parkinson?

Le nuove evidenze cliniche dicono di sì — quando applicato con metodo e precisione. Un recente studio randomizzato e osservatore-cieco pubblicato su Movement Disorders Clinical Practice (Radicati et al., 2025) conferma che il Taping NeuroMuscolare® (NMT) può migliorare il cammino, ridurre la rigidità e ottimizzare il controllo del tronco nei pazienti affetti da Parkinson. Sostieni Harouna: Un Viaggio di Speranza per Iniziare a Camminare

Nel campo medico, ci troviamo spesso di fronte a casi complessi: alcuni hanno opzioni di trattamento chiare e immediate, mentre altri richiedono interventi a lungo termine e il supporto di un team multidisciplinare. Il caso di Harouna è uno di quelli che, in molte parti del mondo, sarebbe stato affrontato precocemente attraverso una ricostruzione chirurgica e un follow-up continuo durante l'infanzia. Purtroppo, a causa della mancanza di un intervento medico tempestivo, ha dovuto adattarsi a una vita con gravi difficoltà motorie.

Harouna, un bambino di 11 anni del Camerun, è nato con un piede torto congenito e limitazioni articolari che lo hanno costretto a camminare sulle ginocchia fin dalla nascita. La sua resilienza e determinazione gli hanno permesso di trovare soluzioni per muoversi in autonomia, arrivando persino a realizzare scarpe di fortuna per proteggere le gambe. Tuttavia, senza l’intervento chirurgico ricostruttivo di cui ha urgente bisogno, la sua condizione continuerà a compromettere il suo futuro.

È qui che noi, come comunità medica e globale, possiamo fare la differenza. Harouna è sfuggito alle maglie del sistema sanitario e ora ha bisogno del nostro aiuto per accedere a un trattamento che potrebbe cambiargli la vita. NMT Cameroon 2024 Volunteer Training Project

The main goal of the 2024 Training Project is to enhance the professional skills of in northern Cameroon by training over 40 practitioners in (NMT) techniques and other advanced practices. This initiative aims to equip physiotherapists with guidelines for addressing emergencies in and conditions. Participants come from the Fondation Bethléem and other rehabilitation facilities in the far north of Cameroon.

The project is part of the broader NMT initiative titled "Treating Disability to Overcome Poverty." This specialised training is designed to transfer related to manual therapies and NeuroMuscular Taping to help practitioners manage daily rehabilitation challenges, especially in orthopedic and pediatric pathologies.

The training takes place at the Fondation Bethléem in Mouda, a center for rehabilitation and care that has been supporting orthopedic and neurological training projects for over 20 years. The foundation’s goal is to keep local physiotherapists updated with the best tools available. In addition, the foundation offers services with an Italian , running a comprehensive surgical and rehabilitation program that treats a variety of conditions, including congenital . The project, running from 2023 to 2027, represents a collaboration among several local organizations to integrate the rehabilitation system proposed by NeuroMuscular Taping into the daily therapy offered by local physiotherapists. This is totally self-funded and is part of a broader series of collaborations across Central Africa. Now in its sixth edition, the project includes specialised programs in orthopedics, , pediatric congenital clubfoot, , and and .

Each has generously shared their experience, passion, and empathy, imparting NMT knowledge and skills to their colleagues in Cameroon, contributing to professional growth in the shortest possible time. The project aimed to support this volunteer-driven effort on a minimal budget, funded primarily through individual contributions and self funded. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Fondation Bethléem of Mouda for their outstanding organizational and logistical support.

The next NMT Training Project in Cameroon will take place from December 8th to 18th, 2024. This year is part of a continuing 5 year project, our goal is to train over 40 physiotherapists, updating their know-how in post-surgical and post-traumatic rehabilitation (particularly for lower limb fractures). The program is volunteer-based and self-funded. I am asking for your support to reach the goal of 8,000 euros, which is needed to cover the costs of the training in Cameroon.
