Did you know? 1 in 5 cancers is rare, with 6,500 new diagnoses annually.
However, only a few National Cancer Control Plans (NCCPs) currently include dedicated, comprehensive, and distinct sections on childhood cancers and rare adult cancers, creating significant inequalities in healthcare. 👥
The Rare Cancer Advocates Network (RCAN), coordinated by EURORDIS, published a joint paper detailing a set of patient-centred recommendations for including rare cancers in NCCPs. The primary aims are to improve timely diagnosis, access to expert care, cross-border collaboration, research participation, and quality of life.
