🧒👧 è l’associazione che supporta i bambini ricoverati in Neurochirurgia pediatrica e le loro famiglie, finanziando progetti ospedalieri, contribuendo a migliorare gli spazi di cura e offrendo un aiuto concreto durante il percorso di degenza presso gli Ospedale Bellaria, Policlinico di Sant'Orsola e Ospedale Maggiore; nella loro sede, ci siamo impegnati nella (difficile!) costruzione di puzzle 3D per i bambini ospiti della struttura, accompagnati da filastrocche e canzoni per ogni opera.

✍️ On March 5-6, beautiful was the stage of another amazing Workshop, hosted by Dr. Emiliano Chisci (Director of Endovascular Aortic Surgery Unit), Dr. Stefano Michelagnoli (Director of Vascular Surgery Unit) and Simone Panci (Interventional Radiographer), in collaboration with Philips.

Two intensive days of theoretical training and cases, where participants were able to discuss and witness the application of in , , , visceral and renal , treatment and much more, with the support of radiographers Daniela Incerti, Giuseppe Martone, Lisa Verna, Lorenzo Ciampi.

Using a Philips Azurion angiography system, they could experience first-hand the feasibility of procedures with CO2:

💧 it's safe and effective in almost all clinical scenarios;
💧 it can be used together with ICM and often by itself, thanks to its imaging quality;
💧 reducing ICM usage is essential, both for patient safety and for the environment.
Moreover, the last procedure of the workshop was completed with a DAP of just 20.5 Gy/cm², highlighting how optimized protocols and technology can significantly reduce exposure.

Could be the game-changer for kidney protection in vascular surgery? 🫀

Patients with Peripheral Arterial Disease ( ) and Chronic Kidney Disease ( ) face a high risk of Acute Kidney Injury ( ) during endovascular revascularization, largely due to the nephrotoxic nature of traditional iodinated contrast media.

The KID Trial is stepping up to address this clinical challenge 🛡️

What is the KID Trial?

This multicentre, prospective randomized controlled trial is investigating whether using an automated CO2 injector reduces the risk of AKI compared to the standard iodinated approach, and Angiodroid is glad to be helping with this important study

Post-procedural AKI is associated with higher mortality, cardiovascular events, and long-term renal decline. By generating robust, definitive evidence on the utility of automated , this study could lead to a significant shift in clinical practice and improved outcomes for our most vulnerable patients.

Kudos to Chief Investigator Prof. Athanasios (Thanos) Saratzis and the entire research team for leading this pivotal work!

🛡️ As part of the Ministry of Health and Population’s commitment to introducing the latest technologies in specialized and advanced surgical procedures, Nasser Institute Hospital in has successfully performed an endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair ( ) using only CO₂ as a contrast medium, marking the first time this procedure has been carried out at the hospital.

📍 Now, a dedicated injector is permanently available at the hospital, enabling this type of advanced intervention in accordance with the latest international standards.

We thank Dr. Moemen Mesalam, Dr. Abd elaziz Mersal and their team for performing this procedure and highlighting how can preserve , as well as our Clinical Specialist Wessam Nabil and our partner AMS for on-site clinical support.
