7 places that made me who I am 💕 every single one in a different way.
1. Growing up in Santiago, Chile, meant experiencing social inequality, the hectic pace of big-city life, and the traditional concept of social success. I worked in marketing for a multinational company until I felt the calling to live differently.
2. In Siena, Italy, I discovered the concept of “dolce far niente,” a university life brimming with passion, and a people who love the good life, who revel in beauty and a relaxed pace. A place where family is important and community essential.
3. In southern India, I discovered yoga and its philosophy. A completely diverse world where each individual lives their spirituality and practices acceptance every day. A place where spices shine like the sun and food is meant to nourish, not to overwhelm.
4. At the easternmost point of Australia, I learned the art of massage from a Japanese master. Multiculturalism is part of the scenery. Nature is wild; the mountains and the sea are vibrant. A diverse population, full of festivals, excesses, and high taxes.
5. Rapa Nui, the most isolated inhabited island in the world, is full of mystery, legends, and countless underground caves. The translucent sea still carries hundreds of thousands of pieces of microplastic every day. An ancient seafaring culture lives on. A population that suffered severe colonization by Chile and other nations before it.
6. Lahu Village, Thailand, a small mountain village with Chinese roots and a unique culture. It was home to a magical Thai massage course where I explored the power of presence and knowledge of the body’s energy channels. We meditated at dawn and shared with the locals at dusk.
7. Taha’a, the Vanilla Island, a paradise on earth. An unparalleled jewel with a joyful, welcoming, and generous population that knows how to live in harmony with nature. It was there that I truly understood what well-being is, where family is an essential foundation, where “mana”—that sacred life force that surrounds us—exists, where massage (tauromi) is a tradition, and what we call wellness is their way of life, enjoying and giving thanks for each day.
