Lina Leaner 2016 World Champion Bikini Athlete, Level 2 PT/Nutrition Advisor. Health, Fitness & Lifestyle Blogger BY FAILING TO PREPARE, YOU ARE PREPARING TO FAIL.

My interest in fitness started many moons ago with the Jane Fonda workout program, now that really is showing my age… Back in those days, I, like so many women, took my health and fitness for granted and had the belief that a little exercise would allow me to eat what I wanted without too much damage. I spent a few years working as a model and really didn’t take care of my body the way I do now. Yes, yes, genetics have helped me through the years but in my early thirties I really started to appreciate the importance of diet and exercise something that has definitely helped me maintain my current physical and mental condition. In 2005 I set up a business promoting body confidence and self esteem in young girls because I really believe body confidence starts at an early age. If we teach children the importance of a healthy active lifestyle, this is something that will continue later in life. I have since studied to become a personal trainer and nutritional advisor and now impart my knowledge to clients to assist them in achieving their health and fitness goals at ANY age. I now want to use this site to build an online community to empower, support and inspire women of all ages reach their goals. I want to teach the very important and direct correlation of nutrition and exercise on achieving the best version of you. Anyone can be motivated to workout in the gym, however nutrition plays a key part in achieving long lasting results, I call it the 70/30 rule – 70% is about nutrition and the remaining 30% is about exercise. With this in mind, I will be offering top tips, advice and workshops on nutrition and exercise. In 2015 I proved age is just a number by hitting the stage and competing in bikini fitness competitions. 12 months on and through hard work, discipline and consistent nutrition I won my first pro card and came first in the over 45 World Bikini Fitness competition at age 48.

2017 is set to be an exciting year for me and I hope to make it a great year for many other women dedicated to being in the best place physically and mentally. By making a commitment to themselves and learning a whole new approach to nutrition and exercise they will benefit from falling in love with themselves again…

It doesn’t get much better than this.
Eating the season, exactly as it should be.
Fresh borlotti bean stew with skin-on spiced roasted butternut squash, topped with jewel-bright pomegranate and a side of vegan rocket pesto.
When we eat with the seasons, the food hits another level.
Here’s to eating the rainbow 🌈

My sweet old boy is living his best life under the Italian sun. Watching him soak up these days fills my heart with gratitude and joy. Every moment feels like a little gift, and nothing makes me happier than knowing I can give him this chapter of peace, love, and adventure. ❤️🇮🇹

How many chillies is too many chillies? Asking for a friend...
Chillies aren’t just for setting your mouth on fire - they boost your mood, fire up your metabolism, protect your heart, AND give you glowing skin. Basically… a tiny red life coach and nature’s way of saying “cry now, thank me later.”

I stumbled into magic yesterday in Loreto Marche. By pure chance, I found myself at the Palio del Drappo – the town’s centuries-old horse race. The day began with a breathtaking parade: each contrada dressed in rich medieval costumes, banners flying, drums rolling, and fanfares echoing through the flag lined streets. Then came the heart of it all – the horses who thundered uphill towards the finish, and were cheered on by the whole roaring town.
It felt like stepping back in time, surrounded by tradition, colour, costumes and pride. Sometimes the best travel moments are the ones you never plan. This event will most definitely be in my calendar for next year...

Nobody really talks about anticipatory grief when it comes to our pets.
My rational mind knows his time isn’t endless, and that I should take a leaf out of his book and simply live in the moment — but the grief I already feel, knowing he won’t be here forever, is very real.
I remind myself daily, how lucky I am to have shared almost fourteen wonderful years with him, yet it’s still hard to imagine a life without him by my side.
So, what can I do? I’ll shower him with love, wrap him in cuddles, and savour every single moment we still have together.
Thank you to for capturing some special moments More to follow...

Today, my fur baby Castro, turns 14.
Fourteen years of love, chaos, loyalty, and unforgettable moments.
We’ve lived a lot of life together. He’s been by my side through everything—the heartbreaks, the milestones, the mess, the growth. Always there. His love is loud, his bark even louder (you’ll hear him before you see him), and his presence... irreplaceable.
These days, he’s living with dementia. Some moments are confusing for him, and yet somehow he still finds joy in the simple things—a patch of sun, a familiar face, the routines. And I try, every single day, to meet him in the present. To love him without fear of what's coming.
He’s still living la vita bella—the good life. He’s mastered il dolce far niente, ruling this town like he owns it (and frankly, he kind of does). He’s not just my dog; he’s the town mascot, the stubborn prince of the piazza, a four-legged reminder to slow down and love harder.
Happy 14th Birthday, my darling Castro.
You are my joy, my soul companion, my little miracle.
Thank you for every moment—we’re still making memories, one precious day at a time. 💛

Another first ticked off the list.
This was my Wednesday night.
Climbing Monte Camicia (2,564m) was no small feat — and mamma mia, was it worth every step. The view from the top as the sun dipped below the peaks was one of those moments that makes your heart swell and your legs forget they’re aching.
As Sir Edmund Hillary once said, “It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.” And that couldn’t feel more true today.
Along the way, I was in awe of the wild beauty that clings to these rugged heights — delicate alpine flowers like the Stella Alpina (Edelweiss, also known locally as Stella Brillante — tick it off the list!), blooming out of rugged stone. And we even spotted the shy Camosci — the Abruzzo chamois, native to the Apennines and symbol of the Gran Sasso mountains.
Huge heartfelt thanks to Wolftours for creating such magical, unforgettable memories. You’ve shown me a wilder, deeper side of Italy that I’ll carry with me always.
This wasn’t just a hike. It was a reminder of how small we are — and how much beauty there is when we slow down enough to see it.

Handpicked caper fruit turned into bougie bites? Check.
Aperitivo nibbles? Sorted.
Gratitude levels? Through the roof.

And just like that, fig season is here. The trees are full, the cicadas are back, and everything starts to slow.
I’ve learnt to mark the seasons by what appears on the trees or in the ground. In London — as in so many other places — we’re used to having fruit and veg on demand, but it often comes at the cost of flavour. There’s a reason why seasonal produce tastes better: because that’s how nature intended it.
The figs ripen, the herbs dry out, and the heat settles in for the next few months, bringing with it an abundance of fruit and veg that actually tastes of something.
It’s a rhythm I’ve come to trust. One I’ll never take for granted.

Let me know if you’d like some in Italian as well.

Moments that matter — out in nature with good friends, a happy dog, and food shared under open skies.
Hiking through the wild heart of Abruzzo, being pushed out of my comfort zone and straight into something unforgettable.
Huge thanks to and for making my world a bigger, braver, more beautiful place.

If you ask me the best thing about living in Italy? Without a doubt — the incredible seasonal produce.
There’s something so magical about watching the seasons shift and seeing what mother nature has in store. Right now, I’m blissfully indulging in fresh cherries and the first juicy watermelon… and patiently awaiting the sweet arrival of figs and apricots. 🍒🍉

What a truly magical day taking part in the ancient tradition of the transumanza—the seasonal migration of livestock through the mountains in search of greener pastures, a practice deeply woven into Abruzzo’s rural heritage.
We had the honour of walking alongside Ottavio and his beautiful horses as they made their journey to their summer home, moving slowly through breathtaking landscapes that have witnessed this ritual for centuries.
The day was wonderfully organised by Wolftours, whose passion for their region is unmatched. Their love for Abruzzo shines through in every detail.
We ended the experience with a rustic forest feast—simple, soulful, and utterly delicious—shared with strangers who quickly became friends. Grateful for moments like these that root you in nature, history, and the joy of connection.
