During times of seasonal transition it is more important than ever to look after our digestion. Grains, soaked and cooked into congees or porridges, are easy on our digestive system. They are also incredibly grounding, being very centering energetically.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, these transitional phases between seasons, relate to the Earth element and to the Stomach & Spleen. This is at the core of optimal health. The importance of nourishing this organ system cannot be underestimated. Western medicine has more recently sited the importance of our gut health and microbiome. Ayurveda and TCM have known for years that a strong digestive system is at the root of good health.
You can take all the supplements and/or herbs but if your digestion is funky, you're going to have a hard time metabolising them (along with your food). So before reaching for yet another supplement, why not try tending to your foundations.
