Focused shockwave therapy is a non-invasive medical treatment that uses high-energy acoustic waves to target specific areas of the body, promoting healing, reducing pain, and improving function (especially in musculoskeletal conditions).

Our machine delivers precisely targeted shockwaves that will:

- Stimulate blood flow
- Trigger the body’s natural healing response
- Break down calcified tissue
- Reduce inflammation
- Promote cell regeneration

Focused shockwave therapy is frequently used to treat:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Tendinopathies (e.g., Achilles tendon, patellar tendon, tennis elbow)
- Calcific shoulder tendinitis
- Chronic pain in joints or muscles
- Non-healing bone fractures (non-unions)

Do you think you might need Shockwave Therapy or want to know more information?? Give us a call 888180 or email info@freedomphysiowellness.je 📞 📧

04/04/2025

Bursitis is an inflammation of a bursa, which is a small, fluid-filled sac that acts as a cushion between bones and soft tissues, such as muscles, tendons, and skin. The bursa helps reduce friction and allows smooth movement of joints. Bursitis typically occurs in areas where there is a lot of movement or pressure, such as the shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. It can be caused by repetitive motion, overuse, trauma, infection, or underlying conditions like arthritis.

How can bursitis be treated?

Focused Shockwave therapy is currently being shown to be the most effective in reducing pain and improving function in patients bursitis.

Ice Therapy: Applying ice packs to the affected hip for 15-20 minutes at a time can help reduce inflammation and swelling in the bursa.

Heat Therapy: Once the initial inflammation has subsided, heat can be used to relax the muscles around the hip and improve circulation.

TENS Machine (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation): This can help manage pain by stimulating nerve pathways and reducing pain signals to the brain.

Gentle Mobilization and Stretching:
Hip Joint Mobilizations: One of our physiotherapists may perform gentle manual techniques to improve joint mobility and reduce stiffness. This helps to relieve tension in the muscles and tissues surrounding the hip joint.

Stretching Exercises:
Gentle stretching of the hip muscles, especially the hip flexors, quads, hamstrings, and glutes, can help alleviate tightness that may be contributing to the pain.

Strengthening Exercises:
Glute and Hip Strengthening: As the pain subsides, strengthening the muscles around the hip joint is crucial. Focus is placed on strengthening the glutes, hip abductors (like the gluteus medius), and stabilizing muscles to improve joint function and reduce the strain on the bursa.
Exercises such as clamshells, side-lying leg lifts, and hip bridges may be prescribed.
Core Strengthening: Improving core strength can also help with posture and alignment, reducing unnecessary stress on the hip.
