🌍 “Think Health, Think Pharmacist” is the theme of World Pharmacists Day on 25 September 2025

💊 Pharmacists are the most accessible members of healthcare systems. They ensure the availability and appropriate use of medicines, deliver vaccinations and preventive care, support public health campaigns, promote rational antibiotic use, improve health literacy, and serve as a trusted point of contact for millions—especially in underserved areas. In short, pharmacists deliver safe, cost-effective care that strengthens health systems and contributes to universal health coverage.

💉 When policymakers invest in pharmacists, they are choosing a path of sustainability, safety, and smart spending. When pharmacists are underutilised or replaced by underqualified personnel, the cost is not just financial, but human.

💊 In truth, pharmacy without the pharmacist is a risk to health. It undermines the quality and safety of care, threatens medicine optimisation, and jeopardises public trust in health systems. We are addressing what might be one of the most critical issues of our time: safeguarding health by investing in qualified pharmacists, even in times of financial turbulence.

Many of you may know that here at Le Quesne’s we have a special interest in ADHD, and we help many islanders with the medicines upon which they rely.

WE ARE HIRING!

Pharmacy part time post available.

We have a vacancy for either a chemist counter assistant, or a dispensing assistant or dispensing technician for regular Fridays.

If desired this could be extended by an additional day per week, or a couple of half days, or a Saturday, but Fridays are the essential requirement.

This post could suit someone recently retired, someone in this role currently who wishes to reduce their hours, someone who feels these hours would fit in with their other commitments, or a returner to work for example.

We are heartbroken to inform you of the passing of our beautiful Claire on the evening of Sunday 11th May.

Some of you will have known a little of Claire’s illness, but to others this will be a complete shock. We apologise if this is so, but please understand that we respected Claire’s wish for privacy throughout.

Claire leaves an enormous ‘Claire-shaped’ hole at Le Quesne’s. She was a bright and shining star for 25 years, having first crossed our door in 2000. Her infectious laugh, amazing sense of humour, and willingness to roll up her sleeves carried us through many hard times. Every member of staff counted Claire as their friend.

Claire knew everyone! She touched so many lives. We shall miss her dearly, but she will live on in our hearts and we will cherish our memories for ever.

At Claire’s request there will not be a funeral. Instead we ask you to think about your own special memories of Claire, and invite you to bring cards, messages or photos to the pharmacy, and also to sign a book of remembrance that we will have in place next week. These will be given to Claire's partner and family, and we are sure will give them great comfort.

We respectfully ask that you think about what you wish to write before you come – we are expecting a queue! And also ask that you are mindful of the feelings of our staff, who are obviously feeling their loss deeply. Happy stories and memories are always welcome though.
