Yesterday was a busy day at the Academy as we welcomed primary schools in for STEM Racing test practice, ahead of the Jersey Primary Regional Event at the end of the month.

Students took part in hands-on activities including reaction time testing, wind tunnel aerodynamics and speed testing — putting their designs, teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test.

Huge thanks to Vikki and Charlie for leading the sessions and supporting the schools throughout the day.

Thank you to C5 Alliance Group for sponsoring and supporting STEM Racing HQ in Jersey.

Good luck to all the students competing at the end of the month.

AI is now a board-level issue. We’re making it clear, practical, and relevant for Jersey. 🇯🇪

Join our next AI Insight Session: AI Governance for Boards & Directors on Thursday 12 February, 9:00-10:00am.
This session focuses on director duties in 2026 and how boards can oversee AI with confidence, without needing to be technical. We’ll cover:

- What boards are legally responsible for when AI is in use
- The key questions non-execs should be asking their CTO
- How to put strong oversight in place while teams move fast

You’ll hear from Danica Damljanovic, an AI expert with deep experience across industry and research, including work on Apple’s Siri. Danica brings clear, real-world insight into how AI governance works in practice and what good oversight looks like at board level.

AI is already changing how work gets done across Jersey, from drafting emails to reviewing data and prioritising tasks.

In this clip, Professor Alan Brown shares a simple way to think about AI: treat it like a capable intern. Give it direction, check the output, and stay accountable for the result.

He expands on this thinking in his recent article, where he looks at how AI has moved from experimentation to a real business driver, and why governance and responsibility now matter just as much as adoption.

These ideas feed directly into the AI Playbook for Jersey, which will offer clear, practical guidance for organisations on the island.

Keep an eye out for the AI Playbook for Jersey, coming soon.
