One of our teams recently carried out a sensitive radial prune on this small Oak tree that needed a light haircut.

We arranged a permit for closing the road, ensuring our operation was carried out legally.

This is everyday domestic tree work done to BS3998 standards, ensuring the tree stays healthy, balanced, and looking great.

For this month's tree care tip, we’re focusing on some key tree care terms that help us better understand tree health and the protections in place to preserve our trees.

Fungal bracket: The visible fruiting body of wood-decay fungi on trunks or branches is a sign of internal decay.
Cavity: A hollow space in a tree caused by decay, injury, or past pruning.
Dieback: When branches gradually die, often because of disease, drought, or stress.
Veteran tree: A mature tree with important ecological or cultural value, often with natural decay features that provide vital habitat.
RPA (Root Protection Area): The zone around a tree’s roots that must be safeguarded during construction work.
Tree Preservation Order (TPO): A legal order protecting trees from being cut, pruned, or damaged without official permission from the States of Jersey.
Arboricultural Impact Assessment (AIA): A specialist report assessing the potential effects of development or construction on nearby trees.
