The Jersey H**p story stems from a passion for improving the environment. Our organic h**p cultivation creates an abundance of benefits to our customers as well as the environment we live in. From the island’s soil to the CBD and food supplements derived from our h**p crops, we are dedicated to producing high-quality products and innovative solutions to soil rejuvenation in Jersey. As nature’s problem solver, h**p has almost limitless potential and the story starts here, up at Warwick Farm.
In 2013, three full-time firefighters from Jersey were researching the combustion of different building materials. Through this research, they came across, ‘H**pcrete’, a revolutionary sustainable building material made from the woody core of the h**p plant. H**pcrete possesses excellent fire resistant properties, and so became the highlight of their research and gave them a goal; to revive h**p cultivation in Jersey.
Since the early days, the team at Jersey H**p work closely with local government and agricultural and environmental experts to ensure h**p production can positively flourish. Bringing high-quality produce to customers in Jersey and abroad means developing PCR (phytocannabinoid rich) CBD oils, nutrient dense h**pseed oil and h**p protein powder. Our expert team implement best organic farming practice using the latest technology and engineering. At Jersey H**p, we don’t spray our plants with pesticides, herbicides or other agricultural chemicals. We are in the business of growing soil microbes and these in turn, grow our organic h**p crops.
H**p is the ideal companion crop for humans; it can feed us, clothe us, provide us with fuel and even house us. At Jersey H**p, we believe the island’s potential prosperity could be planted and grown in our fields.

Our Team
David Ryan – CEO
An eco-friendly firefighter with a passion for the environment, David spent ten years working for the States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service after serving as a Royal Marines Commando for six years. His dedication to environmentally friendly solutions was the inspiration for founding Jersey H**p. David believes that h**p can solve many of the problems that come with modern day living, from the environment to our individual health and wellbeing.
Blair Jones – COO
Blair has been a full-time Firefighter with the States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service for nine years and has worked with the Danish Red Cross helping to provide food and support for refugees. On returning to Jersey, Blair took over the St Ouen’s bakery and continued to run it for 10 years. He is the chief taster of the crop and won’t stop eating it! But with his previous experience as a chef, he knows what tastes good.
Christopher Callaghan, BSc (Hons), Ph.D. – CSO
Our resident scientist and botanic expert, Chris Callaghan has spent years in the field; quite literally. He is a master of the soil and creates the perfect environment within which the h**p can thrive. Chris’ expertise stems from a passion and refined skillset that aims to benefit Jersey’s Eco-footprint. With his specialist knowledge in breeding air pollution resistant crops and his understanding of the local objectives in terms of the agricultural landscape, Chris is a vital part of the Jersey H**p team when it comes to our premium quality produce as well as our Eco promise.
Craig Dempster – Commercial Director
Craig’s background is in finance and business development. After thirteen years in the finance industry, Craig has booted the suit in favour of working with Jersey H**p, producing something tangible and sustainable; Craig isn’t shy in getting his hands dirty out in the field too. His primary role is to develop Jersey H**p’s commercial opportunities whilst maintaining the company’s ethos and values.
