Teamwork
Our values are at the heart of everything we do
The Jersey Commandery is a registered Jersey charity; all funds raised in Jersey (apart from our annual donation to the St John Eye Hospitals in Palestine and Jerusalem), stay in Jersey for the benefit of the people of the island.
Our charity has two main purposes:
To encourage spiritual and moral strength;
To procure works of humanity and charity for those who are sick or suffering, irrespective of their race, creed or class.
So why choice us for your first aid training? Well, our focus is to build a nation of first aiders; our aim is for 6,000 people a year in Jersey to learn first aid skills by attending one of our high quality courses, which include teaching a generation essential life-saving skills - 2,250 Jersey students per year learn first aid thanks to our work with local schools and youth groups.
We pride ourselves on having expert trainers who deliver first aid training to the highest possible standard. We offer workplace and community courses, which can be booked via our website and we also offer private group courses, these are tailored to meet your exact requirements. If you would like to speak to us about booking a private group course, please do call or email us and we will be delighted to assist you. (Tel. 735611, or email countyhq@sja.org.je)
As well as providing essential first aid training we also undertake other charitable operations, such as providing first aid training for carers too.
St John Ambulance is woven into the fabric of the islands society. You will see our uniformed
volunteers at almost every public event - Parish shows, The Battle of Flowers, Jersey music festivals and island walks - any event in fact where first aid may be required. Without us, many of these well known local events would not be able to be held as the organisers would not be able to get insurance cover to hold them. That is why we are so very grateful to our wonderful hard working, dedicated volunteers that give their time and energy to help those in need, without our volunteer members we would not be able to provide the essential services for the local community (If you would like to know more about volunteering for St John Ambulance please do contact us by phone or email and we will be happy to have a chat)
St John Ambulance DO NOT receive any funding from the States of Jersey. This means that we have to rely on the generosity of our sponsors and the donations we receive from the local community along with any surplus revenue from our first aid course fees; that income has to stretch along way and we are finding it increasing difficult to cover our costs. Just at a time when we, and other charities, are being required to plug more gaps in the island’s welfare system. So we are always very happy to receive your kind donations and sponsorship. If you or your workplace would like to fund raise for us we would be very grateful.
So whether you would like to attend a first aid course, volunteer for our charity, fund raise or sponsor us, do get in touch and you will be helping to make a difference to the local community
