From Rubble to Relief!
They say charity begins at home — and today, it truly did.
Though the storm took one of our apartments among other significant damages, Sandra and I decided to pass on the remaining materials to two families who lost their homes.
Sometimes the smallest act of kindness can rebuild not just a house, but hope.

When the elders speak, we listen.
Justice Justice Stevens from Belmont, Bluefields calls Hurricane Melissa a ‘Category 10’ — the worst he’s seen since Hurricane Charlie when he was just five years old.
His words remind us how unpredictable nature can be… and how strong our community must remain.

While Hurricane Melissa raged outside, I found myself doing what many Jamaicans were also doing — mopping up floodwater inside, trying to protect what little space we could call “dry ground.”

How did you ride out Hurricane Melissa?

28/10/2025

Power’s back!
Winds still strong!
Rain nonstop!
We’re riding it out here at — faith over fear

NB. We have since lost JPS service once more - moments ago😂

While others wait on Melissa’s next move, we’re here at Bluefields Organic Farm — roasting three freshly harvested breadfruits and living our best, most natural lives.

Prepared, peaceful, and purposeful — that’s how we do it!

Protect Our Hives Before the Storm!
✅ Secure lids and tie down hives
✅ Move to higher ground if flooding is likely
✅ Remove heavy supers to reduce wind resistance
✅ Check water drainage around the apiary

Healthy bees = a strong recovery after the storm!

Pruning one of our ackee tree near the driveway — tough to cut branches full of blossoms, but safety comes first.
These trees are resilient and will bounce back in due season.

Before storm Melissa, Sandra and I harvested avocados — just like we’ve done for 32 years
Through storms, struggles, and blessings — we keep moving together.

Here at Bluefields Organic Farm, we’re doing our part — inspecting our solar panels and trimming trees that could pose a risk during the storm.

A little prevention today saves a lot of trouble tomorrow.
Stay safe, stay ready, stay green!
