Itβs time to cheer on our young athletes, but letβs not forgetβprevention is key to keeping them in the race! Check out these tips to help keep your child injury-free during this exciting time.
Common Track & Field Injuries to Watch Out For:
β‘ Hamstring Strains
β‘ Shin Splints
β‘ Stress Fractures
β‘ Achilles Tendinitis
β‘ Runnerβs Knee (Patellofemoral Pain)
β‘ Groin Strains
How to Prevent and Treat Injuries:

Before the race: Make sure they warm up properly and hydrate well.

During the competition: Watch for any signs of discomfort, and remind them to stay focused on their form.

After the event: Cooling down and stretching is key for recovery!

Treating pain: If your athlete feels pain, apply ice and rest. Over-the-counter pain relievers can help with minor discomfort.

When to seek medical help: If pain persists or is severe, or if your child has trouble moving a joint, it's important to consult a doctor right away.
