Before referring patients for their hearing test, it’s essential to ensure the ear canal is clear of wax to allow for accurate assessment and diagnosis. ✅
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s why it matters ⬇️

1️⃣ Wax can block conduction, especially during tympanometry and pure tone testing.
2️⃣ Occluded canals often lead to unnecessary referrals or repeat tests.
3️⃣ Patients with impacted wax may experience symptoms that mimic hearing loss, such as fullness, tinnitus, or muffled hearing.

Ever heard of Auditory Neuropathy❓🧠👂🏽

It’s a rare hearing disorder where the ears can detect sound, but the brain struggles to process it properly! This can greatly affect your speech development.

People with this condition often say they can hear but it’s like words are scrambled or muffled, especially in noisy places.

Symptoms can include:
➡️ Hearing sounds but not understanding speech
➡️ Fluctuating hearing ability
➡️ Trouble hearing in crowds or with background noise

Early diagnosis is key but many cases go undetected because regular hearing tests can appear normal.

That’s why Caribbean Hearing Center does special advanced tests to not just detect hearing loss but auditory neuropathy. 👍🏽
