Hope on the horizon for endometriosis diagnosis.
A new study in The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology, & Women’s Health explored a specialised imaging technique using ⁹⁹ᵐTc maraciclatide to help identify endometriosis.
The early results are encouraging:
82% sensitivity
100% specificity
Potential benefit for superficial peritoneal endometriosis
Early stage endometriosis can be difficult to detect on ultrasounds and MRI, so many women still face years of pain, uncertainty, and delayed diagnosis.
This is not yet a replacement for careful clinical assessment, expert imaging, or surgery where needed. The study was small, and larger trials are still needed.
But it is promising.
For women living with unexplained pelvic pain, painful periods, painful s*x, bowel symptoms, bladder symptoms, or infertility, every step toward earlier diagnosis is a step toward validation, relief, and better care.
Less delay.
More answers.
More hope.
