The Bashy Bus Mobile Unit was started by the "Children First Agency" in 2005 against the background of increasing risky sexual behaviour among adolescents and young people. As well, the bus was a response to allegations of young people engaging in unsafe sexual activities on public buses. This mobile unit is operated by a team of trained peer educators commonly known as the "Bashy Bus Kru". Using

youth-friendly initiatives, the Kru provides a safe place where young people can learn about sex and sexuality. The "Bashy Bus" travels to deep rural and inner city communities reaching at-risk youth.
