🌧️ After the Storm — Standing Together for Healing and Recovery... continued

As we continue standing together for healing and recovery, we want to extend heartfelt thanks to all our local practitioners who have been volunteering their time and expertise to provide psychological support to those affected by Hurricane Melissa. 💚

However, the need is great, and we need all hands on deck. While local professionals are leading the charge, we also welcome the continued support of our diaspora, regional neighbors, and international partners to help meet the growing demand for psychological care.

Together, we can ensure that every response is safe, trauma-informed, and guided by qualified professionals, as we work toward healing, mind, body, and community.

👉🏾 Check out our post for more information on how to operate in Jamaica if you wish to offer assistance, and visit www.jampsych.org for updates and more resources.

Disasters can shake our walls, and our peace of mind.
It’s normal to feel anxious, restless, or afraid during these times.

Remember:
💭 Take slow breaths.
💚 Stay connected with your loved ones.
💊 Keep medication close and routines steady.
📞 And if someone’s struggling, offer a listening ear, not judgment.

We can’t control the weather, but we can care for each other through it.

Stay safe, stay calm, and look out for yourself and communities.

World Su***de Prevention Day 🌍💛

Today is more than just a date on the calendar, it’s a reminder of the urgent need to talk about mental health, break the silence around su***de, and take collective action to save lives.

Why is this day important?
Because su***de continues to affect families, communities, and nations in deep and lasting ways. It reminds us that every life matters and that prevention is possible when we create environments where people feel seen, heard, and supported.

Prevention begins with connection. Strong family bonds, trusted friendships, and supportive communities act as protective shields against despair. When we talk openly about struggles, encourage healthy coping, and guide loved ones toward professional help, we take powerful steps toward saving lives.

💬 Start the conversation.
🤝 Be present for someone who feels alone.
🌱 Nurture family, community, and belonging.

On this World Su***de Prevention Day, let us commit to building a culture of care where no one feels they must suffer in silence. Hope is real, help is possible, and together, we can prevent su***de.
