The clinic faced resistance from religious groups in the midst of political tensions in Jamaica. Regardless, Dr and Mrs Jacobs with the help of funders, medical personnel, public health nurses and community health aides, persisted and ensured the development and continuity of the organization.

International Women’s Day 2021

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2021, we at the Jamaica Family Planning Association, with our members and partners celebrate with all women and girls in all their diversities.

We especially celebrate the women of our Association who have shown and continue to show extraordinary commitment to duty and the cause during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The team of Boyd-Brown, Lammie, Thorney and Stone at the Beth Jacobs Clinic in St. Ann’s Bay and that of Brown, Smith, Addman, Francis and Levene at the Lenworth Jacobs Clinic. We salute you.

The Association continued to serve women and girls during the crisis and have recovered much of the ground lost as a result of lock downs and government restrictions on movement.

We commend you for your dedication and sacrifice.
