Congratulations to Patrice A. Harris, MD, on her election as president-elect of the American Medical Association. D. Harris is the first black woman to win the office, and when she assumes the post of AMA president in June 2019, will be the Association’s first African-American female President.

She becomes the first African-American woman to hold the office. AMA trustees, council members also elected.
