A full day of discovery, from land to sea at the Montego Bay Marine Park Trust

The journey began in the classroom, where students explored the wonders of marine ecosystems and built excitement for what was ahead. From there, our young adventurers gathered in the boat yard, surrounded by vessels, and ready for their big experience in Montego Bay Marine Park.

With our captain at the helm and teachers close by, the group set off on the glass-bottom boat, getting a front-row view of life beneath the surface. Curious eyes, big smiles, and lots of learning along the way!

The day wrapped up with a smooth return to shore, leaving everyone with new knowledge, lasting memories, and a deeper appreciation for our marine environment.

Yeaterday, January 8th 2026, the Montego Bay Marine Park Trust teamed up with , the Forestry Department, and students from the University of the West Indies (Mona) to assess the mangroves in the Bogue Lagoons, following Hurricane Melissa. These areas were previously surveyed, so this visit was all about comparing changes and seeing how our mangroves are holding up. Nature tells a story, and weโ€™re here to listen.

On Monday, December 8, 2025, we had the handover of a Multi Spectral Drone,
Thermal Drone, and
2 RTKs (Real-time Kinematics) to the Montego Bay Marine Park Trust.

Thanks to The Mona Geoinformatics Institute (MGI), our dedicated trainers, and the Embassy of the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), who generously funded the initiative and equipment.

The integration of drone technology into our monitoring and patrol efforts is set to elevate the protection and management of Montego Bay Marine Park.
