Our Community Mental Health Service consists of a stand-by psychiatric/mental health team that provides emergency response to persons within their community. A fully equipped mental health response team with a Mental Health Officer, Psychiatric Aide and an on-call Psychiatrist will provide round the clock responses for our patients registered in our database

Our patients can also receive follow-up care in the form of in-home treatment for patients who are unable to ambulate or those who prefer the discretion of in-home rather than office visits. It combines creative arts, games and life skills with remedial tutoring, with the aim of assisting children and adolescents with enhancing and actualizing their potential. Cultural therapy is a multimodal intervention that was designed in view of the limited resources of a developing society such as Jamaica with the challenges of social distress, school drop outs, risk of delinquency, frequent attachment disruptions and poverty. It is child focused particularly in light of a general difficulty with parental participation and is assessed for its effectiveness in both reducing the children’s behavioural problems and improving their academic performance within culturally syntonic therapeutic modalities. The Cultural Therapy programme is a group psychotherapeutic intervention implemented through the creative arts (art, drama, dance, and music) and games in conjunction with remedial tutoring and information technology. All activities are oriented to promote social skills such as interpersonal communication, managing conflict, cooperating with leaders, enhancing empathy, validating competencies and developing self-esteem. Cultural Therapy had has been used with cohorts of male and female students ages 8 – 9 years old from the Allman Town Primary and male students ages 121 – 17 years old from the Alpha Boys Home, both located in Kingston, Jamaica.
