Since the transition between the UK & JA, I have been wanting to get back into healthy relationship education here in Jamaica! If you know me, you will know my passion and advocacy is very much connected to enabling young women to step into their power and fulfil their dreams.
It’s a great honour wo be part of S*x Education Week in St Thomas… I love the work the Angelic Ladies Society are doing in partnership with Teen Hub St Thomas …I’m glad and grateful to be joining them next week!
On the 25th of April I will be delivering selfcare workshops at the Teen Hub in Morant Bay, we’ll learn some breathing techniques, high vibe stretches and different ways to deal with feelings we have about ourselves and others...one of the best relationships you can have is the one you have with yourself...let’s make it positive❤️…if you know any young people please encourage them to join us for self-care!
I have many years’ experiences working with women and girls from all backgrounds but more specifically African, Caribbean, Asian, and Indigenous women and girls by virtue of the locations I delivered interventions. My own lived ‘intersectional’ experiences helped shape my practice so that I integrate healing, selfcare, wellness, creativity and cultural sensitivity into my work. These women were victims and survivors of domestic abuse, and the young women were negatively affected by sexual exploitation, peer-on-peer abuse, gang-related criminal exploitation (if your unfamiliar with the terms holla at your girl for a full breakdown!). In addition to this I equally worked with young men affected by serious youth violence, gangs and drugs through keywork within youth offending services, prison, courts and police stations. I’m a huge champion of safe open judgement free spaces that create expansive learning experiences for young people, their parents, cares, professionals, and the wider community.
… I know you have big missions too but if there’s opportunities for us to come together across the water… am here for it!
