Considering the recent increase in the numbers of covid cases in Jordan, we have decided to address it on our page and share as much helpful information as possible.
Many people still believe that children are not at risk from the Covid - 19 virus or upon infection, the risk to children is mild. This spread of misinformation has led parents and guardians to often neglect to take the precautions necessary to prevent the spread of the disease.
All children (including newborn babies) are in danger of contracting the virus.
The infection can manifest itself as mild symptoms such as:
• Congested nose
• Mild fever
• Slight cough
• Headaches
Additionally, the disease has been associated with symptoms in the digestive system such as:
• Abdominal pain
• Diarrhea
• Nausea
• Vomiting
Most of these symptoms are easily treated at home after consulting your Pediatrician. Make sure to follow simple treatments like consuming lots of fluids and giving paracetamol for fever.
However, there are severe cases registered all around the world as well as in Jordan.
Most children suffering from severe symptoms were hospitalized.
(MIS-C) is one of the syndromes that is associated with Covid-19. (MIS-C) is a Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children that causes different body parts to become inflamed, such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin, eyes, or gastrointestinal organs.
(MIS-C) Symptoms can manifest as:
• High fever that lasts over 24 hrs.
• Vomiting, Nausea, Abdominal pain, and/or Diarrhea
• Fatigue and general weakness
• Skin rash
• Harsh cough with chest pain
• Swollen joints
• Severe headaches
When suspicious that a patient has (MIS-C), the patient must be admitted to the hospital immediately for proper treatment protocols and procedures.
Rest assured that the recovery rate is high. We have had cases under our care which after admission are now fully cured. Unfortunately, this syndrome can be fatal.
Our aim in sharing this information is to prevent Covid-19 patients from reaching the life-threatening stages.
It is our duty as a community to adhere to the necessary precautions, such as: maintaining social distancing, washing the hands regularly, wearing masks in public and social gathering, Most importantly, all above the age of 16 years old need to get vaccinated.
We wish that you and your little ones are always in good health.
