If you’re in perimenopause and feel like your body’s holding on to fat no matter what you do — you’re not imagining it.

When estrogen and progesterone start to fluctuate, your body becomes more reactive to stress, poor sleep, and blood sugar drops.
In other words — what worked in your 30s might be slowing you down now.

Here are a few habits that quietly mess with your metabolism 👇

1️⃣ Skipping breakfast but eating big at night
Your body isn’t meant to run on coffee and stress all morning. Skipping breakfast tells your system to store fat, especially around your midsection.

2️⃣ Eating late at night
Those “I’ll just have dinner at 9pm” days? They interfere with your hormones’ natural repair cycle and stop fat burning while you sleep.

3️⃣ Snacking all day long
Every time you snack, insulin rises — and fat burning shuts off. Give your body breaks between meals (at least 3 hours)

4️⃣ High-carb breakfasts (like toast, cereal, or fruit smoothies with no protein)
They spike your blood sugar first thing, leaving you craving sugar and caffeine all day.

5️⃣ Too much cardio
Endless cardio keeps cortisol high and breaks down muscle — exactly what we don’t want in perimenopause.

6️⃣ Not sleeping enough
Poor sleep makes your body more insulin-resistant and increases cravings. You need 7–8 hours, minimum.

7️⃣ Not getting enough protein
Protein is your anchor — it supports your thyroid, balances blood sugar, and keeps metabolism steady. Aim for around 25-30g at main meals.

💡 Try this instead:
✨ Eat a protein-rich breakfast within the first hour of waking up
✨ Leave 3–4 hours between meals (no constant snacking)
✨ Prioritize good sleep and cut back on high-intensity workouts
✨ Support your liver and adrenals — they’re doing the hormonal heavy lifting

If you’ve been eating “healthy” but still can’t lose weight, feel exhausted, or struggle with PMS, mood swings, or stubborn belly fat — it might be because your diet is unknowingly stressing your hormones.

Let’s bust some of the most common myths 👇

1️⃣ Cutting all carbs is the best way to lose weight
Low-carb extremes can raise cortisol, stress your adrenals, and throw off estrogen & thyroid hormones. The key? Choose the right carbs (quinoa, sweet potatoes, fruit) and pair them with protein.

2️⃣ Skipping breakfast boosts fat burning
Skipping meals can spike cortisol and drop blood sugar, making PMS, fatigue, and belly fat worse. Eat a protein-rich breakfast within 1 hour of waking to support insulin, progesterone, and thyroid health.

3️⃣ Fat makes you fat
Healthy fats are the building blocks of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. Without them, hormone production suffers. Think avocado, olive oil, nuts, and seeds — in balance.
