When do female hormones usually decline?
Female hormone levels are often unstable but change with the age of women. Hormones in women often decline during childbirth, after the age of 30. The decline in hormones occurs more often after the age of 40-50 years, female hormones are only about 10% compared to when they were young, affecting health.
Causes of female hormone decline
The cause of female hormone decline is mainly due to age causing low estrogen levels (2). Causes of low female hormones include:
Age: estrogen levels decrease during menopause. During this phase, estrogen in the body changes from estradiol (produced mainly in the ovaries) to estrone (produced mainly in body fat).
Eating disorders: Loss of appetite or eating a lot causes hormones in the body to be out of balance.
Genetics: Turner syndrome (short height, underdeveloped ovaries, heart defects), Fragile X syndrome (developmental delay, intellectual disability, physical abnormalities, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) or autism) causes low estrogen levels. (3)
Autoimmune diseases that attack the ovaries prevent them from making enough estrogen.
Primary ovarian failure (early menopause) where the ovaries stop producing eggs before age 40, causing estrogen levels to drop.
Treatments that affect the ovaries, such as: cancer treatment (radiotherapy, chemotherapy). Trauma prevents the ovaries from secreting normal levels of estrogen. Removal of one or both ovaries also causes low estrogen levels.
The pituitary gland secretes hormones that signal the ovaries to make estrogen. If the pituitary gland does not release enough of these hormones, the body will produce low levels of estrogen.
Hypothalamic amenorrhea: if the body is under stress (excessive exercise), not getting enough nutrients will cause hypothalamic amenorrhea. During hypothalamic amenorrhea, the brain doesn't release enough hormones that trigger estrogen production in the ovaries.
Signs of female hormone decline
Signs of female hormone decline occur due to a decrease in estrogen levels in the body causing various symptoms such as:
Reduce the amount of subcutaneous fat, the skin becomes dry, wrinkles appear, sagging.
Reduces the ability to secrete mucus in the va**na, making the va**na dry, easy to get infected, feel pain, dry during s*x, difficult to achieve pleasure ...
Menstrual disorders: fast or sparse menstruation, oligomenorrhea, short menstrual cycle, low menstrual volume and then complete.
Heart palpitations, nervousness, decreased concentration, forgetfulness, irritability, anger, dizziness, headache...
Heat in the body, fatigue, anxiety, stress...
Insomnia, not sleeping well.
Increased risk of cardiovascular disease, blood clots, urinary tract infections, urinary incontinence, etc.
Round 1 softens, lacks firmness.
Weight gain, excess belly fat.
Osteoarthritis pain, osteoporosis, weak and brittle bones leading to easy fractures.
