U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa has some of the most highly trained medical staff from corpsmen and other military providers to civilians both U.S. and Japanese, and a vast network of support staff all with the same common goal, to keep our warfighters medically ready.

CDR Vince Deguzman, a Navy Medical Service Corps officer and the Director for Clinical Support Services at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, was recently recognized as one of two healthcare leaders to receive the 2026 Federal Healthcare Executive Award. This constant pursuit of excellence is often recognized by both military and civilian organizations.

The Military Health System is one of America’s largest and most complex health care institutions, and the world’s preeminent military health care delivery operation. Our MHS saves lives on the battlefield, combats infectious disease around the world, and is responsible for providing health services through both direct care and private sector care to approximately 9.5 million beneficiaries, composed of uniformed service members, military retirees, and family members.

CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa, Japan – Cmdr. Vince Deguzman, a Navy Medical Service Corps officer and the Director for Clinical Support Services at U.S. Naval Hospital Okinawa, was recently recognized as one of two healthcare leaders to receive the 2026 Federal Healthcare Executive Award.

Congratulations to our DAISY🌼 Award recipients! Thank you for all the hard work you do!

In 1999, at the age of 33, Patrick Barnes was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenia). His family was fortunate to spend the eight weeks of Patrick’s hospitalization with him. During those weeks, they experienced the best of nursing. While they expected great clinical care, they did not expect the incredible kindness and compassion shown to Patrick and them every day, even when Pat was completely sedated. It eased their minds, and the nurses' sensitivity to the situation made a great difference in the hospital experience. The nurses helped the family through the darkest hours of their lives with soft voices of comfort and strong, loving hugs.
