1. Precancerous lesions: Atrophy of gastric mucosa; cells in the stomach lining morphologically resemble those in the intestines and colon (intestinal metaplasia); stomach lining cells change structure, escape the control of the body (paraplasia).
2. Helicobacter pylori (HP): Causes stomach ulcers and destroys the gastric mucosa, causing precancerous lesions.
3. Obesity: Obese people are more prone to stomach cancer than normal people, especially cancer of the heart.
4. Heredity: The rate of genetic inheritance of atrophic gastritis from mother to child is 48%. In addition, the genetic mutation of the E - cadherin gene (CDH1) or the acquisition of genetic syndromes such as adenomatous polyposis, hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer are also associated with gastric cancer.
5. Blood group: People with blood group A are more likely to have stomach cancer than blood groups O, B, and AB.
6. Gastric surgery: People with a history of stomach surgery have a high risk of stomach cancer, especially about 15-20 years after surgery.
7. Age: The older you get, the higher the risk of stomach cancer, especially after the age of 50.
8. Gender: Men are twice as likely to get stomach cancer as women.
