2026年4月23日 Mine秋吉台ジオパーク ユネスコ世界ジオパーク認定！
4月23日、フランス･ユネスコ本部で開催された会議において、Mine秋吉台ジオパークが、正式に「ユネスコ世界ジオパーク」として認定されました。
この認定は、Mine秋吉台ジオパークが有する「白」の石灰岩、「黒」の石炭、「赤」の銅といった貴重な地質地形遺産をはじめ、自然遺産、有形文化遺産、無形文化遺産が、学びや交流を通して地域活動に活かされていることが高く評価された結果であります。すなわち、Mine秋吉台ジオパークには国際的価値のある地質地形遺産が存在し、それを地域全体で保全・活用していることが、世界に認められたといえます。
この成果は、地域の皆さん、ジオガイド、関係機関の皆さんなど多くの方々が力を合わせて活動を続けてこられた努力の結晶にほかなりません。心より感謝申し上げます。
しかし、ユネスコ世界ジオパーク認定はゴールではなく、次なる挑戦への出発点です。私たちは、貴重な地質地形遺産、自然遺産、有形文化遺産、無形文化遺産を守りながら、次世代を担う子どもたちが世界とつながり、地域に誇りを持ち、未来を創り出していける環境を育んでまいります。
Mine秋吉台ジオパークは、これからも「地球に寄り添い、人とつながり、未来のあり方を考え行動する社会」の実現を目指し活動を続けていく所存でございます。どうか今後とも、地域一丸となって歩みを進める私たちへのご支援とご協力を賜りますよう、お願い申し上げます。

On April the 23rd, Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark was officially designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark at the UNESCO Executive Board meeting held at UNESCO’s headquarters in France.
This designation acknowledges and praises the ways in which Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark’s valuable geological heritage - including its “white” limestone, “black” coal, and “red” copper – as well as its natural heritage, tangible cultural heritage, and intangible cultural heritage are being utilised in local activities through learning and networking. In other words, Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark has been globally recognised for possessing geological heritage of international significance, which the entire region is working to preserve and utilise.
This achievement is nothing other than the fruit of the hard work of many people, including local residents, geoguides, and relevant stakeholders, who have worked together to sustain these activities. To that, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude.
Achieving this UNESCO designation is by no means the end goal; it marks the starting point for our new journey. We are committed to preserving our precious geological heritage, natural heritage, tangible cultural heritage, and intangible cultural heritage, while fostering an environment where the children of the next generation can connect with the world, take pride in their local community, and shape the future.
We at Miné-Akiyoshidai Karst Plateau Geopark are committed to continuing our activities with the aim of achieving “a society that draws close to the Earth, connects with people, and thinks and acts on how the future should be”. We sincerely ask for your continued support and cooperation as we move forward as a united community.
