長崎大学熱帯医学研究所臨床感染症学分野・長崎大学病院感染症内科（熱研内科）

長崎大学が採択された「医療技術等国際展開推進事業」の一環として、超音波気管支鏡（EBUS）を用いた呼吸器疾患診断体制の強化プロジェクトが進行しています。
11月25〜27日には、ケニア・ナイロビのケニヤッタ国立病院にて、3日間の集中プログラムが実施されました。
齊藤先生・彦根先生をはじめとする熱帯医学研究所ケニア拠点の皆さまが現地での調整を担い、長崎大学病院からは呼吸器外科の松本教授、呼吸器内科医師の先生方をはじめとした呼吸器チーム、看護師、臨床工学技士が協働し、当センターからは日本―ケニア間および国内でのコーディネートやプログラムサポートも含め田中教授と増田医師が研修に参加しました。
この取り組みは、ケニヤッタ国立病院やケニア保健省でも報道され、呼吸器疾患診療体制の強化に向けた重要度の高い活動として国内で注目されています。
プログラムは大変濃密かつ実践的で、EBUS技術の普及に向けて大きな一歩となりました。さらに、2026年1月には、ケニヤッタ国立病院側の医療スタッフが中心となり、ケニア国内の他施設スタッフを育成する “研修者研修（ToT: Training of Trainers）” が実施される予定で、当センターからは島田医師が参加し、現地の教育体制構築を引き続き支援します。
当センターは、引き続き国境を越えた医療連携を通じて、医療の質向上に貢献してまいります。

As part of Nagasaki University’s Medical Technologies International Deployment Project, an initiative to strengthen diagnostic capacity for respiratory diseases using endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) is underway.
From November 25–27, a three-day intensive program was conducted at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. The Kenya Office of the Institute of Tropical Medicine, led by Dr. Saito and Dr. Hikone, coordinated the program locally. From Nagasaki University Hospital, Professor Matsumoto from the Department of Respiratory Surgery, physicians from Respiratory Medicine, nurses, and biomedical engineers collaborated in the training. Additionally, from our center, Professor Tanaka and Dr. Masuda participated, contributing to coordination between Japan and Kenya as well as domestic program support.
This initiative was featured by Kenyatta National Hospital and the Ministry of Health, Kenya, highlighting its national importance in strengthening respiratory disease diagnosis and care. The program was highly intensive and practical, representing a significant step toward expanding the use of EBUS techniques in Kenya.
In January 2026, medical staff at Kenyatta National Hospital will lead a Training of Trainers program to train healthcare workers from other facilities across Kenya. From our center, Dr. Shimada will participate and continue supporting the development of a sustainable local training system.
Our center remains committed to contributing to improved healthcare quality through cross-border medical collaboration.

2025年11月11〜13日、台湾CDCのCheng-Fen Yang先生, Shu-Fen Chang先生, Kuang-Yen Chen先生, I-Jung Tsai先生が当センターに来訪されました。重症熱性血小板減少症候群（SFTS）の長崎県での検査体制およびクロイツフェルトヤコブ病(CJD）の診断管理体制（長崎大学において）について視察が目的でした。
当センターにて、熱帯医学研究所ウイルス学教室、長崎大学病院、長崎県環境保健研究センター、医歯薬感染分子解析学での研修ディスカッションのスケジュールを企画しました。当センタースタッフも共に、長崎県環境保健研究センターを訪問し、SFTSウイルスやその他の感染症の検査体制などについて貴重なお話を伺いました。
大変有意義な学びの機会となりました。今回の視察研修にご協力頂いた関係者の皆さま、ありがとうございました。

From November 11–13, 2025, we were honored to welcome Dr. Cheng-Fen Yang, Dr. Shu-Fen Chang, Dr. Kuang-Yen Chen, and Dr. I-Jung Tsai from the Taiwan CDC to our center.
The purpose of their visit was to observe the diagnostic and laboratory systems for Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS) in Nagasaki Prefecture, as well as the diagnostic and management framework for Creutzfeldt–Jakob Disease (CJD) at Nagasaki University.
Our center organized a comprehensive program including training and discussions with the Department of Virology at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki University Hospital, the Nagasaki Prefectural Institute for Environment and Public Health, and the Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology. Our staff also accompanied the team during site visits, where we received valuable insights into diagnostic systems for SFTS and other infectious diseases.
This visit provided an exceptionally meaningful and educational opportunity. We sincerely appreciate the support and cooperation of everyone involved.

10月18日、当センターに Professor David Leslie Paterson（NUSシンガポール国立大学）、AMR（抗菌薬耐性）研究の第一人者をお迎えしました。
センター長・田中による施設案内ののち、夜にはスタッフと意見交換の機会を持ちました。
有意義なご訪問をありがとうございました。

2025年10月1日付で、長崎大学熱帯医学研究所 臨床感染症学分野 教授に就任いたしました田中健之と申します。併せて、長崎大学病院 総合感染症科 副診療科長および国際感染症予防診療センター長を兼務いたします。
長崎大学が長年にわたり築いてきた「感染症への対応と人材育成」の伝統を受け継ぎながら、臨床・研究・教育・国際連携を一体的に推進し、次世代へとつながる新しい感染症学の教室を、教室メンバーをはじめ学内外の皆さまと協力しながら共に築いてまいります。
熱帯医学の概念も時代とともに変化しています。一国の枠を超えたグローバルヘルスの視点を軸に据え、臨床感染症の新たな位置づけを明確にし、これを教室運営の柱としてまいります。アジア・アフリカとの研究連携に加え、ここ数年進めてまいりましたラテンアメリカとの強固な臨床感染症ネットワークもさらに発展させ、長崎に多くの仲間が集う場を育んでいきたいと考えております。
今後ともご指導とご支援のほど、よろしくお願い申し上げます。
