If you love and appreciate this sacred silent cosmos, it will become beauty for you.
If you love it as Ram it will come to meet you as Ram.
As Krishna says in Geeta howsoever you precise me I will appear to you like that.
That also means your negativity is your perception and hence life becomes negative.
We owe to life to make it divine and beautiful.

Why is this the peacock pose?

Mayurasana is called the peacock pose. It resembles a peacock with closed feathers, if you've seen peacocks in nature, they mostly walk around like this.

Peacocks are very good snake killers, so there is a metaphor: As the peacock kills the snake, same way our intestine is getting cleared from the toxins and poisons from this pose.

When done correctly, the elbows put great pressure on the stomach area and this helps with the clearing of toxins by improving blood circulation due to the strong pressure. The abdomen should be soft. The pose is recommended for digestive health.

Backbending / Urdhva Dhanurasana

In normal life the spine degenerates with age. The body becomes shorter and lacks vitality.

Bending backwards counteracts this process. The spine remains long and pliable and the inner organs open and stretch.

The brain is energized through being inverted. The mind remains alert and cheerful.

Can't bring your elbows back enough to properly support your body in any Sarvangasana variation?

It can be because of stiff shoulders, but it's also more challenging if you have wider shoulders or back.

Try to use a belt to tie your elbows together, it helps alignment and gives a nice chest/shoulder opening...
You can also do this is Halasana, here you can use wall support or a chair for your feet, if your feet don't touch the ground. Maintain straight spine and aim with sitting bones up in this posture.

You can spend long time in these poses 2-5 minutes, according to your goals.

Yoga Mudrasana steps ( with belt support )

Effects:
Crossing the hand behind the back expands the chest and increases the range of shoulder movements. Yoga Mudrasana intensifies the peristaltic activity and pushes down the accumulated waste matter in the colon and thereby relieves constipation and increases digestive power.

(Effects explanation from the book, Light on Yoga)

Viparita Karani ( with belt )

Viparita means reverse, Karani means the method or way of doing. In this asana the body is in an inverted position, with the head and shoulders on the floor and legs lifted up. Unlike Sarvangasana, where the entire body is kept perpendicular to the shoulders, here the trunk gradually reclines from the hips to the shoulders.

Benefits:
• Expands the chest and helps the air sacs in the lungs absorb the air as the breath reaches the lungs.
• Opens the front shoulders.
• Helps recover from fatigue and exhaustion.
• Builds endurance and stamina.
• Overcomes nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea and other common problems of the digestive system.
• Develops defensive strength and makes one less prone to disease.
• Relaxes the eyes, especially when done with a crepe bandage wrapped around them.
• Helps recover from travel strains and jet lag.
