PSA: tidying up your clothes can wait…take a rest.

Brought to you by the Meownistry of Comfy Cats.

No but really, friendly reminder to those who need it that reels aren’t reality and we all have a little mess in a drawer or just out of the frame. Yoga helps me let go of the perfection and enjoy life more.

Good morning! I’ve been teaching an online prenatal class on Tuesday mornings and recently have had requests for an in-person prenatal class too. If you’re interested, let me know the days and times that work well for you. Both classes are beginner-friendly! Feel free to message with requests or questions.

Have an amazing day!

Your next visit to California Bliss Dept. you can enjoy the luxury of new comfy mats! 💕 Fancy yoga mats aren’t necessary for a deep yoga practice but my old mats were crumbling and the mats are made to LAST, so hoping this purchase will make the yoga experience comfier. 🥰

I salted my mats as instructed and then realized that this was an incredibly messy endeavor. No matter how many times I’ve mopped the floor, a little pile of salt keeps showing up 🤣 So apologies in advance of you step in some salt. Maybe the smell of sea salt and powdery floor will remind you of the beach! 🏝️

Now is as good of a time as any to try yoga or barre with a teacher who is dedicated to helping you find your unique practice. You’re welcome here! 🫶

Can’t believe this year went by so quickly! So many new visitors to .bliss.dept ! 💕 Thank you for helping me build this lovely community of such cool and fun and curious folks. Happy new year!

Next year will be the year of the horse. I like the Zen story of a man hurriedly riding through town on a horse and someone asks, “Where are you going?” The man replies, “Ask the horse!”. I think the story reminds us that our habit energy often leads us instead of our actual passion or intention. Sometimes these auto-pilot habits can be helpful, but they can also lead us to repeat unwise patterns and to even see them as safety or necessity. Maybe in the year of the horse, we can take time to notice which habits are serving us and which ones may need letting go. Of course change comes with time and exploration, not on any timeline.

In yoga and even on other philosophical paths, we are often compared to charioteers. The horses can be a variety of mind movements that we’d like to limit or control. I think it’s useful because if you’ve ever ridden a horse you’ll know you’re almost never completely in control, and the harder we fight for that, the more the horses will revolt. Instead we work with the thoughts, we observe and understand them, we learn to make peace with them and reduce the patterns that activate them. Of course many teachers say these things far better than I can in an insta post, but if any of this resonates with you, I’d love to work with you. If you’d like to just move your body without feeling like it’s punishment, I’d love to work with you. If you’re not sure where to start, but you’d like to start somewhere with yoga or fitness, guess what…I’d love to work with you. Let’s grow together.

Love,
Holly

I also would love to collaborate with more folks on a variety of events in 2026…some of you I’ve already talked with. If you have an idea, let’s chat.

Thanks to everyone who is here and I wish you a suuuuper restful and joyful holiday season.

ps I know yoga and fitness spaces are not always welcoming or accommodating. I am doing my best. Thanks to my students who are teaching me how to be a better teacher and business owner. You’re amazing. I couldn’t do any of this without you and your support.

The weather outside keeps getting cooler, and I’ve been getting requests for more online classes! 🥶 Recently I added a gentle prenatal class, and I mean it when I say I’m always open to ideas and requests. If I feel I can teach it, I’ll add it to my schedule. And to expecting parents, if you’d like some gentle feel-good movement, join us at 10:30 am on Tuesdays on Zoom. ¥500 per class.

My in-person classes are still all ¥1000 drop-in, which is likely to change in 2026, but I’m going to keep that price for *all* my current students to thank them for supporting a little studio! 💕 (truly tysm 🥹) If you haven’t visited yet, now’s your chance to lock in that price for 2026. Do you fear commitment and pushy sales pitches? My no-strings-attached studio is for you.

Belated post about Japan International H**p Fest Expo! So many vendors took great care to explain their product lineup and share samples. It was a fun and educational experience.

I’ve wanted to carry some CBD products at my studio, but there has been so much propaganda and disinformation here, and I worried some people would feel uncomfortable. As a Californian, I’m aware of how CBD has the potential to help many people. And honestly, compared to alcohol and to***co, sold almost everywhere and with far more potential to harm, I can’t help but believe this campaign against CBD is anything but the result of intense lobbying.

Our governments have access to many studies, yet they choose to spread a scary portrait, instead of a woman with arthritis enjoying a CBD bath bomb or someone with anxiety taking a CBN gummy to sleep. Any substance, even water, has the capacity to harm in excess. I hope that someday politicians will stop fighting something that’s clearly benefitting a lot of folks.

Big thanks to: .cbd for taking the time to talk with me & share information.
