Spring has been springing! 🌹🌸💐🌺🌷🌻🪷🪻

Unfortunately, I have to leave Tokyo at such a beautiful time to deal with some family matters in California. I apologize for the inconvenience. 🥹

I will be out of the country until the beginning of Golden Week. After talking with most of you, it seems that folks will be traveling during Golden Week. Thus I’m going to reopen on May 7th. It will give me some time to rest up from the trip, do some “spring” cleaning, and plan some fun community events for this summer!

I had the goal of posting my May schedule before I left, but since I have been locked into my university grading the last few days I haven’t had the time. Rest assured, your favorite classes will be there, and it’s one of the 1st things I’ll do when I get back.

Thank you for being here. Thanks for being an amazing group of people. I appreciate all of you so much. May you enjoy the sunshine & blossoms. See you soon!

Making a community wall at California Bliss Dept. since I realized there just aren’t enough community boards, especially for music events, art exhibits, etc. Got an event you’re trying to promote? Let’s chat. Dms open.

I’m just starting out so I may add some rules but first things that come to mind are:

-NO AI!!! Not on the flyers, not in the content of the event. Let’s use the power of our imagination.
-Nothing overly alcohol-centered. For example, some gigs happen at bars but the focus is music. So that’s ok. But sake or wine tasting is alcohol focused 👎

Priority goes to my community members’ events, Suginami events, LGBTQIA+ folks’ events, and then anything else would just be at my discretion since I know my client base. If you’re a small business in Suginami and you’d like to leave business cards, also happy to chat about a collab. Let’s support each other 🫶

Hi Tokyo folks! I’m organizing a Hanami in Zenpukuji Park on 3/29. Anyone’s welcome so bring your friends, family, pet tanuki*, etc.

May reschedule if the weather isn’t looking great. I’ll post the exact location in Instagram stories on the morning of the event.

I love this park because it gets a lot less crowded than other parks and is big enough to accommodate a lot of people.

Reminder to take a selfie sometimes without makeup or filters. Someday we may wonder what the heck we actually looked like. Aging is a beautiful gift that not all of us receive. So grateful to find myself letting go of perfection as I get older. It’s incredibly liberating. 🥰

I’ve been trying out some new Saturday morning classes and still have a couple spots tomorrow! Lmk if you wanna join.

Hey yoga teachers!!! I see you working hard to help your students navigate difficult times. I see you practicing compassion and meeting your students where they are, even as many things in our own lives are uncertain. I see you living your yoga.

Yoga students! I see you continuing to show up in these times even if a lot of the class is spent in savasana or child’s pose. You’re tuning into what you need and practicing compassion with yourself. You’re amazing!

Fascism doesn’t like autonomous wellness spaces because it teaches us to be introspective and curious. They want to treat wellness as a marker of worth, not an exploration of the self or truth. They want us to fear and hate so that we buy more, instead of finding our inherent worth.

One reason I’m so bad at promoting myself as a business is because I don’t want to throw fuel on that fire of endless buying rather than looking within. However, I hear from my students that they feel better, sleep better, live freer. It’s not an instant fix. It’s a journey. Happy to help you on that journey if you need support.

Your next visit to California Bliss Dept. you can enjoy the luxury of new comfy mats! 💕 Fancy yoga mats aren’t necessary for a deep yoga practice but my old mats were crumbling and the mats are made to LAST, so hoping this purchase will make the yoga experience comfier. 🥰

I salted my mats as instructed and then realized that this was an incredibly messy endeavor. No matter how many times I’ve mopped the floor, a little pile of salt keeps showing up 🤣 So apologies in advance of you step in some salt. Maybe the smell of sea salt and powdery floor will remind you of the beach! 🏝️

Now is as good of a time as any to try yoga or barre with a teacher who is dedicated to helping you find your unique practice. You’re welcome here! 🫶
