Quiet early morning.

The choice of stillness allows for a regrouping, a centering, a moment to reflect and draw upon simple breath as strength. The quiet offers this. I’m recognizing many communities out there aching and individuals unsure how to move forward in meaningful ways, my hometown of Minneapolis is one such community. I stand witness from a far and send love and the courage to pause, regroup, and enter the quiet before finding the way forward. ❤️

Experience nature within the darkness during the first New Moon of 2026. Amongst the silhouetted trees and fading winter light we will connect to nature through our senses. New Moon phase is the time of intention setting and beginnings; as we commune with nature we will gather our own personal intentions for our year ahead. Gathered in community circle, we will enjoy a candlelit warm tea and seasonal snack to close. Each participant will be provided with an Intention Lantern to light their way that is yours to take with you.

Michelle is a certified Shinrin Yoku/Forest Bathing Guide. Her passion is helping people slow down and become more connected to the moment through movement, nature and creative rituals.

The threshold of exiting 2025 and stepping into 2026 is entirely created by the individual, their story, and what they choose to carry or leave behind. There is no one way or path, just the one we choose ourselves. And the possibilities are endless. May your transition out of the old and into the new be one that is particularly meaningful and full of awe for you. ✨

Image of a new years shimekazari, a decoration of natural materials from the forest such as rice straw, pine twigs, yuzuhira leaves, each representing purity, resilience, longevity. They are hung in the doors to represent that the house is clean and ready for a new year, keeping bad spirits away. This tradition has been rooted in Shintoism and rice growing culture for centuries.

I was gifted this profoundly beautiful book by a dear Midwestern friend (thank you, Molly) just before the holidays and since have found quiet and thought-provoking moments with the carefully curated images and words of . Some moments of beauty moved me to tears in time spent with this tome as for me it is also a warm reminder of the nature in my far away home of Minnesota. Whether you connect with that land or not, I believe any nature lover would revel in these pages of beauty from the natural world. ❤️🪶

Snow and cold are in my DNA, my body feels an instant connect to the season and land in this weather and time of year. Unfortunately Tokyo can’t always deliver this recipe and I’m left mourning the experience of snowflakes on my tongue. A little trip to Northern Japan (Iwate) and an afternoon stroll through Morioka-Jo and Mother Nature shared a snowy blanket. ❄️❤️
Snow will always slow you with her beauty.

Dried oranges added to the Christmas tree signifying the coming of the light after Winter Solstice. Historically they also represented gold coins for abundance throughout the year. 🍊🌲✨☀️

Merry merry to you and yours no matter what or how you celebrate. May you find abundance in the simple and slow moments of the season. ❤️

Winter has arrived and now the light will come. Merry Solstice! ✨🕯️☀️❤️

Winter Solstice greetings. 🌿🕯️✨

Here we are having coiled into the darkest of days only now to slowly walk towards the light. May your journey into winter always embody the light even if only a single flame or burning ember. 🔥✨☀️

The Slow Life Experience

About Michelle...

Michelle has been teaching yoga and mindfulness for over ten years emphasizing the principles of slowing down and being present with the complex experiences of being human. Michelle's intersection with yoga and meditation came in her late twenties after being diagnosed with cancer and spending two years navigating balance in the midst of a life-threatening disease. In addition to battling a terminal illness Michelle has experienced trauma and loss in her own life. She credits yoga and mindfulness for giving her the tools to self-regulate and manage her stress in times of grief, fear, and vulnerability. Michelle believes her yoga and meditation practices have improved her ability to become a better listener of herself and others while also teaching her the humble practice of acceptance.

With a masters degree in Mental Health Counseling focused on somatic psychology for trauma, Michelle's style of teaching is trauma-informed, person-centered, and fully accepting of all individuals from all walks of life. Michelle has worked as a internationally certified yoga therapist both in private practice and in clinical settings with her focus primarily on clients who have navigated trauma, grief, and loss. This includes working with active duty military members and individuals who are living with spinal cord injury, brain injury, cancer, chronic and life-threatening diseases, anxiety, depression, and chronic stress.

Michelle specializes in training yoga teachers at all levels in their careers. She continues to provide trainings, workshops, and retreats in Asia and the United States in Yin Yoga, Trauma-Informed Yoga Teaching, Yoga Ethics, Mindfulness Practices, Somatic Practices, and Meditation.
