「日本遺産」にも認定された木彫刻の町、井波。街の中心にある八日町通りには、数多くの井波彫刻の工房が軒を連ね、木の香りや数々の彫刻作品が人々の目を楽しませてくれます。通りを歩けば、木彫りのバス標識や表札など、随所に伝統技術を用いた美しい井波彫刻を見ることができます。600年の歴史を誇る井波別院瑞泉寺から伸びるこの石畳の通りでは、どこからともなく職人の打つ木槌とノミの音が聞こえます。木槌の音は心地よく、環境省が認定する「残したい日本の音風景100選」にも選ばれました。

[Introduction to nearby tourist spots]
Inami is a town of woodcarving that has been certified as a "Japan Heritage". Many Inami carving workshops are lined up on Yokamachi Street in the center of the town, and people enjoy the scent of wood and the numerous carvings. Walking down the street, you can see beautiful Inami carvings made using traditional techniques everywhere, such as wooden bus signs and nameplates. On this cobblestone street that stretches from Inami Betsuin Zuisenji Temple, which boasts a 600-year history, you can hear the sounds of craftsmen hammering with mallets and chisels from nowhere. The sound of the mallets is soothing, and it has been selected as one of the "100 Soundscapes of Japan We Want to Preserve" certified by the Ministry of the Environment.
