Did you know that while bone growth stops after puberty, bone density continues until around age 30?
So what does this mean to you?
Daily doses of stress placed on your skeletal frame (I.e. Lifting weights) aides in increasing bone density and combating skeletal issues like osteoporosis and arthritis in the "golden years" of life. Your body is a lean, mean, force producing machine with an unmatched capability for adapting to outside stress. In fact, by definition that is exactly what muscle growth is.. your body's adaptation to an excessive outside force in an attempt to become more efficient. It should come to no surprise then that controlled outside stress is needed for healthy growth and preservation as well.
Bottom line: Get up, get out and pick up some stuff! Even if you're beyond 30 years old, you can still benefit tremendously from weight training.
