Trees release natural compounds called phytoncides.

When inhaled, research suggests they may help lower stress hormones and support immune function.

Your nervous system is constantly responding to your environment.

In this series, you won’t just “go outside.”
Each session includes a guided nature immersion practice that you complete independently during the week — supported by my audio guidance.

You choose the location.
You choose the timing.
You integrate at your own rhythm.

This offering is part of my yoga therapy research exploring the combined effects of restorative yoga + intentional nature exposure.

The week is almost over — ease into the weekend with Rest & Ritual, our new Friday evening restorative class with Roksana.
Through gentle rhythmic movements, supported poses, and soft muscle release, the body gradually lets go of the tension accumulated during the week.

This class is more than just yoga poses — it is a practice designed to support nervous system regulation and help you return to a calmer, more balanced state. Join us on Friday at 6:15 PM and step into the weekend feeling lighter, softer, and more at ease. ✨

We often notice what we didn’t do this week.
But how often do we pause to notice what we did for ourselves?

Before the week comes to an end, take a small moment to reflect. What is one thing you did this week that supported your wellbeing?

Maybe you stepped on your mat, took a walk in nature, paused for a deep breath, or simply allowed yourself to rest.

Sometimes the smallest acts of care are the ones that matter most. 🌿

Today we are celebrating Shantel 🤍

Let me tell you a story about never giving up.

In October 2025, Shantel took a leap of faith and joined my training. Soon after, life shifted — and I wasn’t able to return to Okinawa to lead the training in person as planned.

But instead of giving up, we adapted.

We began online. We studied, reflected, practiced. Later, we met in person for asana labs, hands-on adjustments, and class sequencing. Step by step, she kept showing up.

Last Friday, she led her very first class online with her group.
And today, she guided her class at the studio.

It is such a joy to witness how yoga training can positively transform someone’s life — not just in skill, but in confidence, presence, and voice.

Shantel, I am so grateful for your willingness, your honesty, and your openness throughout this process. You brought your whole self into the journey.

With her gift for poetry I have no doubt she will guide the most beautiful meditations and Savasanas.

Keep sharing your yoga.
The world needs your light ✨

Forest bathing research has shown increased activity of NK cells (natural killer cells) after time spent in forest environments — cells that play an important role in immune defense.

What’s powerful?
The effects have been observed to last for days.

Nature doesn’t just relax you.
It may strengthen you.

In this 4-week immersion — part of my yoga therapy case study — we combine restorative yoga with a weekly self-guided elemental nature practice that you complete on your own time.

Each week you’ll receive:
• A guided audio recording
• Reflection questions
• Suggested duration (20–120 minutes)
• Freedom to choose your location

Forest, ocean, quiet park, even a tree-lined street.

🌿 Dates:
March 11 / 18
April 8 / 15
Zoom | 11:00 AM

Drop-in available or full 4-week journey recommended.

What are your favorite parts of the class? 🤍

Is it that moment you step onto your mat — feeling the excitement and gratitude that you finally made it to this little magical space?

Is it when you “nail” a pose and feel like you just unlocked another level of the game — stronger, steadier, more capable than before?

Or maybe it’s the sweetness of Savasana… the soft exhale, the letting go, the moment where nothing is asked of you.

We would truly love to hear from you.

New Class Announcement ✨Yoga Fundamentals
Mondays | 4:30 PM

We’re excited to introduce a class designed to help you truly understand the building blocks of yoga.

In Yoga Fundamentals, we break down the essential elements of the most common yoga asanas with clear, step-by-step verbal guidance and demonstration. You’ll explore:

• Alignment principles
• Breath awareness
• Smooth and mindful transitions
• How to move with clarity and confidence

This class moves at a slower, supportive pace and encourages the use of props to help you feel stable and informed in each posture.

Perfect for:
– Those new to yoga
– Anyone returning after a break
– Students who want a deeper understanding of foundational technique
– Anyone who enjoys slowing down and refining their practice

Foundations create freedom.
When you understand the basics, everything else becomes more accessible.

Join us Mondays at 4:30 PM and build your practice from the ground up 🌿

Did you know that spending just 20 minutes in a forest has been shown in Japanese Shinrin-Yoku research to significantly lower cortisol — the body’s primary stress hormone?

Twenty minutes.
Not a full retreat.
Not a weekend away.
Just intentional presence among trees.

What happens when we combine that with restorative yoga?

This 4-week series is part of my ongoing yoga therapy case study exploring how restorative yoga + intentional nature exposure influence nervous system regulation.

🌿 Each live Zoom session includes:
• 40 minutes of restorative yoga
• Short lecture on the weekly element + nervous system science
• A guided nature immersion “home practice”
• Audio recording to support your self-led forest bathing
• Reflection prompts

Your nature practice can be done at a location of your choice — forest, park, ocean, garden, or any natural space available to you.

🌿 Live on Zoom:
March 11 & 18
April 8 & 15
Wednesdays | 11:00 AM or 3:30 PM
75 minutes

Join as a drop-in or commit to the full 4-week immersion.

About

Founded in May 2019, The Yoga Tree of Okinawa is a studio space that goes beyond exercise. Our philosophy is that yoga is not only a workout, but a work-in. With mindfulness, meditation and various healing sessions, The Yoga Tree of Okinawa is a place to grow and transform, and to discover new and forgotten aspects of ourselves.

Whether it be through a sweaty Vinyasa class, relaxing Yoga Nidra, deep Yin or healing session, our goal is to assist you in an experience of deep mind-body connection.

We hope to become a community space where you can come to refresh; surrounded by living plants in a serene environment with the healing, loving vibes of our instructors.
