Mama Mitchelle was admitted to FMW at 27 weeks of gestation with a diagnosis of threatened abortion. Despite appropriate medical intervention, she progressed into preterm labor and subsequently delivered a preterm infant.

Immediately after birth, the newborn was transferred to the maternity unit where prompt resuscitation was carried out until stabilization was achieved. The infant was then admitted to the Newborn Unit (NBU) with a recorded birth weight of 800 grams.

Baby Mitchelle remained under care in the NBU and Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) for a period of two months and was later discharged home in a stable condition. The infant is currently on routine follow-up at the POPC clinic, with all appointments up to date.

This successful outcome reflects the commitment, teamwork, and dedication of the St. Clare’s Kaplong Hospital medical team, whose tireless efforts and professional care were instrumental throughout the patient’s management and recovery.

On Friday, 5th December, St. Clare’s Kaplong Hospital held a memorable Family Day to celebrate the many milestones and achievements of our institution. The event was gracefully graced by the Rev. Rt. Bishop Alfred Rotich of the Catholic Diocese of Kericho. We also took time to honor our retiring staff members, appreciating their years of dedicated and faithful service to our hospital family. Special appreciation was extended to our CEO, Sr. Judith Immaculate, for her unwavering commitment, perseverance, and outstanding leadership, which continue to inspire us all.
We also extend our sincere gratitude to our staff and the church clergy for their warm reception, hospitality, and unwavering support, which greatly contributed to the success of the celebration.
