Do you recall the speech impaired 4 years old boy, who got better after only two endocrine therapies? You need to hear more on how he fared thereafter. The word 'Baba,' the equivalent of the English 'father,' was easy to pronounce. On the contrary 'mama,' mother in swahili was a challenge since it involved stretching both lips inwardly and cupping of the cheeks. He now says, 'mama' easily and afew more words; among them 'bye,' 'thank you,' and 'wapi.' This boy's parents decided to enrol him in an ordinary school. I visited the family for a third session. I was dumb founded to see what the boy was capable of doing. Kneeling at the living room before the parents and I, he arranged two pairs of shoes brown and black in their respective places forming a shoe staircase creatively. He now concentrates for 10 to 15 minutes an incredible progress. He visited the neighbour's house and quietly picked a two legged stool and placing it next to the table he sat on it and stayed calm. Afew minutes later came the mother and requested the boy to follow her for the therapy. The boy, immediately, in obedience; took the stool back to it's place and followed the mother. Amazing progress, isn't it?
