🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

As we seek other prevention services, let’s also take time to talk about breast cancer.
Many myths and misconceptions keep people from early detection and treatment. Let’s set the record straight 👇

✅ Do’s

💡Perform regular self-breast exams

💡Go for routine clinical screenings & mammograms

💡Seek medical advice if you notice unusual changes

💡Support and talk openly about breast health

❌ Don’ts

👉Don’t believe that only women get breast cancer (men can too!)

👉Don’t assume pain is the only warning sign

👉Don’t wait for symptoms to worsen before seeking help

👉Don’t let stigma or fear stop you from screening

✨ Early detection saves lives. Let’s demystify the myths, spread awareness, and support each other.

🌸✨ Happy New Month – Hello October! ✨🌸

This October, we join the world in celebrating Women’s Health Awareness Month 💜.
It’s a reminder to prioritize the health, wellness, and dignity of all women, including those within our Most At-Risk Populations (MARPs).

✅ Regular health check-ups
✅ Mental health care
✅ Access to HIV prevention & treatment
✅ Ending stigma and violence against women

At SSG, we believe a healthier woman means a stronger community. 💪💚

Let’s stand together for women’s health this month and beyond.

🟣 September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month 🟣

Did you know?
👉 People within our Most At-Risk Populations (MARPs) often face stigma, rejection, and violence that can increase their risk of depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts.

But su***de is preventable. 💜
Here’s how we can support each other:
💬 Talk – Check in with your peers, listen without judgment.
🤝 Connect – Encourage seeking help from safe spaces.
💡 Notice – Be aware of warning signs: withdrawal, hopelessness, aggression, or talk of self-harm.
❤️ Support – Sometimes, just being there makes all the difference.

At SSG, we remind all our peers:
✨ You are not alone.
✨ Your life matters.
✨ Help is available, and healing is possible.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out—we care, and we are here for you.

🔹 Angry 😡 → I will find a positive outlet
🔹 Drained 😪 → I will rest and recharge
🔹 Broken 💔 → I will practice self-compassion
🔹 Upset 😞 → I will take time for myself
🔹 Alone 🥺 → I will reach out for support

🌱 In our Mental Health Monday's 🌱

A new week is here — and it’s the perfect time to pause and check in with yourself. 💭✨

Remember:

🛑 It’s okay to slow down.

💬 Talking about what you feel is a sign of strength, not weakness.

🌞 Small steps like deep breathing, journaling, or a short walk can lift your mood.

Your mental health matters as much as your physical health. 💚
Let’s walk into this week with kindness — for ourselves and others.

Wishing you a calm and purposeful week ahead. 🌿💫

🛡 PrEP Protects from HIV — NOT from STIs! 🛡

PrEP is powerful in preventing HIV, but it does not protect you from other sexually transmitted infections like syphilis, gonorrhea, or chlamydia.

💡 The best protection?
✅ Condomize every time – it keeps you safe from both HIV & STIs.
✅ Combine PrEP with condoms for double protection.

Your health, your responsibility.
Wrap it up. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

💤 Rest without guilt.

🧠 HIV doesn’t always show symptoms.
Waiting to “feel sick” before you get tested is risky — by then, the virus could have been silently affecting your health for months or even years.

✅ The only way to know your status is to GET TESTED.
Testing is quick, confidential, and free

📍 If you’re unsure where to go, talk to your Peer Educator, Outreach Worker, or any member of our program team — we’ll guide you to the right facility.
