Covid made me look at life differently. It changed me! When the first case was reported in Kenya, we knew it was here with us. A team was constituted. Only 8 nurses volunteered. I was one of them! In the beginning, it was a death sentence! We watched how First world countries struggled to handle the situation and we sympathised with ourselves. Everyone was terrified. The day came and the first patient was with us. I wish I could manage the patient at a distance but as a nurse, it wasn't practical, I stayed closer, dawned in a nylon apron with heavy masks to cover my nose and mouth. I struggled to breath 😅. To summarise my story, covid was the first disease I saw patients die in the middle of a conversation. Most of them thanked us before they died, they could smell death! It was so sad. Relatives buried their loved ones without closure because we immediately wrapped the bodies in insulated body bags and sealed them. Life is fragile, let's normalise thanking God for every breath we take, and do whatever makes us happy. Never hesitate to offer a helping hand to the needy because service to man is service to God.
