We have received a batch of Commondities for Medical Laboratory Services - Embu County to be distributed in the county.

The second batch is expected from Meds tommorrow.

Embu level 5 Hospital Lab is Expected to receive buffer stocks from next week tuesday.

We have also operationalized the following labs that were closed in the previous regime due to lack of commodities and staff:-

1.Gikuuri Dispensary Lab
2.Gatumbi Dispensary Lab
3.Muchagori Dispensary Lab
4.Kithimu Health Centre
5.Riakanau Dispensary Lab
6.Kamumu Dispensary Lab
7.Kabuguri Dispensary Lab
8.Kamweli Dispensary Lab

New Staffs have been deployed to the facilities and already conducting diagnostics after orientation..

ADVANCING HEALTHCARE THROUGH STRENGTHENED LABORATORIES SYSTEM

Investments in cutting-edge equipment and enhanced training for laboratory personnel have led to more accurate diagnostics and groundbreaking research in Kenya. The introduction of the genomics and molecular surveillance unit has enhanced disease surveillance, acting as an early warning system for diseases outbreaks.

The government endeavours to fortify our laboratory capacities in terms of infrastructure, human resources and commodities to ensure available, accessible and acceptable laboratory system.

We appreciate partners like Amref Health Africa in Kenya, the World Health Organization, USAID and the US-CDC among others for supporting the government's efforts in strengthening the lab network in the country.

Laboratories Stakeholders from the national and county governments, research scientists,academia and private sector are currently convening to discuss the role of laboratories in the context of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).The expected outcome of the meeting is a sustainable and synergistic collaboration towards strengthening lab capacities for UHC.

In order to expand our County Diagnostics capacity, and as stated in my earlier post we will install specialized equipments to facilitate and ensure quality diagnosis for our communities.
We have today installed a Full Blood Count (FHG) equipment to enhance testing in the laboratory section of Siakago Hospital Aka Mbeere District Hospital this is to keep the promise of the Governor Hon. Cecily Mbarire MGH to the community to enhance the diagnostics capacity and other services in the Level 4s and 3s.
We are also finalizing the plan to install a fully automated Biochemistry Equipment for the same facility to run the Lab at full capacity this will help in the early diagnosis of Liver and Kidney related diseases as well as enable Elective and emergency surgeries.

Department of Medical Services , Division of Medical Laboratory Services - Embu County remain committed to ensure less travels for Laboratory and other medical services.

We have just concluded this Continous Medical Education for the laboratory department in Embu County.

Very informative make an effort to attend. We have limited attendance slots for Med Lab Techs working out of Embu County

The term “HIV testing services” embraces the full range of services that should be provided together with HIV testing.

This includes counselling (brief pretest information and post-test counselling); linkage to appropriate HIV prevention, care and treatment services and other clinical and support services; and coordination with laboratory services to support quality assurance.

Officially Opened; with my Colleague the CASCO, the Ongoing Training of HTS providers drawn from Embu and Meru County Currently happening at St John Ambulance Kenya Eastern Region.

The participant will undergo over engaging 2weeks of Intense Training of the HTS Guidelines as accredited by Division of National AIDS and STI Control Program to cascade the knowledge and provide Quality HIV services at their service points.

Medical laboratory commodities for Embu County.

Glad to report that we have received Medical laboratory commodities for Embu County to be distributed to all the public health facilities within Embu County.
We are Continuously receiving the commodities after the consideration by Her Excellency Hon. Cecily Mbarire MGH ,CeC,COMS, and the County Assembly By the CMLC allocate more funds to the diagnostic services to facilitate client's needs.
We have in line plan to expand the testing capacity of Dallas, Runyenjes Kianjokoma Kiritiri,Ishiara amd Runyenjes to Include UEC/LFTS,Tumor/Cardiac Markers and also selected hormonal Profiles This will highly decongest Embu level 5 and also expand the diagnostic capacity for Embu County health Service points.
The commodities have been dispatched today to the sub county lab Coordinators for distribution to all the Laboratory.

Embu level 5 lab will receive buffer stocks today.
