A HEARTWARMING UPDATE

18yr old Agnes Wambui came to Embu Level 5 Hospital and was admitted at the Maternity Unit on 1st December 2025. She was blessed with a baby girl who was taken to Newborn Unit for specialized care for a period of two weeks. At the point of discharge Agnes did not have any documents of identification, which meant her bill could not be settled by SHA.

Today, through the gracious intervention of H.E the Governor Hon. Cecily Mbarire, EGH and the Gaturi South MCA Fredrick Mugendi (Kamwigunyi), we are overjoyed to announce that Agnes' hospital bill has been settled fully.

This beautiful act of kindness has filled Agnes' heart with joy as she's reunited with her loved ones and can now treasure moments with her newborn baby girl. We're filled with appreciation for their generosity and empathy, and Agnes and her family will never forget this incredible support.

Today, we had the privilege of hosting Hon. Cecily Mbarire, EGH , who officially commissioned a new, state of the art Accident and Emergency Centre at our facility.
The newly established emergency unit has a 14 bed capacity and is fully fitted with piped oxygen. It also features an emergency laboratory, a pharmacy, and a minor theatre to effectively cater to urgent and critical care needs.

We sincerely appreciate our partners, the Emergency Medicine Kenya Foundation (EMKF), for their continued support and collaboration, which reinforces our commitment to delivering the highest quality of healthcare services to the residents of Embu County and beyond.
We further extend our gratitude to the Department of Health, led by the able CEC Jamal Runyenje Ogw, for their unwavering support in ensuring that Embu Level 5 Hospital remains the leading referral facility in the region.

RIGHT OF REPLY : CLARIFICATION ON A POST MADE ABOUT A PATIENT IN OUR FACILITY

Embu Level 5 Hospital wishes to address concerns raised on social media regarding the care of a patient admitted in one of our wards.

The patient has continued to receive appropriate medical and nursing care throughout her admission, including during the period of industrial action. At no point was the patient left unattended, and all essential services for her condition have remained in place.

Given the specialized and multidisciplinary care required for her long-term recovery, the clinical team had earlier advised the family to consider transfer to a facility equipped for extended rehabilitative support. The patient has since been transferred intensive care unit for closer monitoring and enhanced care.

Embu Level 5 Hospital remains committed to maintaining patient safety, dignity, and quality of care, even under challenging operational circumstances. We appreciate the continued cooperation of families, staff, and stakeholders as we navigate the ongoing industrial action.
