~Eat dark green leafy & cruciferous vegetables i.e broccoli,spinach,& kales daily

~Limit your intake of red meat,sugars & high fat foods

~Eat whole grains& legumes such as whole wheat bread,brown rice & beans.

Avoid alcohol

~Limit amount of salt cured smoked & pickled foods

~Include Monosaturated and polysaturated fats when planning meals i.e olive oil & vegetable oil

~Drink fluids to stay dehydrated.

Eat more fibre rich foods i.e brown rice,whole wheat pasta,whole wheat bread,baked irish potato,

Eat 4-5 servings of fruits and vegetable / leave edible peels whenever possible such spinach,1 cup berry,banana,avocado,dried fruit,prunes e.t.c

Eat more magnessium and potassium rich foods such as green leafy vegetables,Fruits,nuts, seeds, legumes,broccoli etc

Avoid salt by
Choose low salt low fat diet
Avoid processed ,packaged, canned & junk foods
Read food labels
Soak vegetables before cooking
Dont add salt to your meals

Choose sweets that are fat free such as jelly,jam,lemonade

2-3 serving/day of unsaturated fats such as olive oil,nuts,avocado

Eat cheese in moderation & stick to 2-3 serving/ day of dairy products

Carry some form of medical identification indicating type diabetes you have

Take extra snack such as cereal bars,peanut butter crackers,glucose tablets

Always keep insulin if using cool especially when vocationing in warm climates

Keep some coins to purchase some foods if necessary

Always carry glucose monitoring equipment

Walk around and stretch every 2 -4 hrs
