The National Council for Population and Development (NCPD) undertakes research on population and development to inform decision making in planning and implementation of population and development interventions. One of the areas of interest at international, regional and country level is the nexus between climate change and food security.
According to the 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census, Isiolo County had a total population of 268,002. This population is projected to reach 323,215 in 2024 and 368,938 in 2030. It is imperative on the county government to ensure food security for this population.
This dialogue that will take place tomorrow at Barsalinga Towers is aimed at establishing climate change adaptability and food security in Isiolo County, with the aim of achieving the following objectives
1. Discuss correlation between climate change and food security in Kenya and particularly Isiolo County.
2. Discuss climate change, its manifestations, associated factors, and its effect on food security.
3. Canvass climate change adaptation and interventions to achieve food security.
4. Analyze national and county policies and programmes on the two issues of climate change and food security.
