PROSTATE HEALTH FOR MEN
Everyone has a pair of kidneys,the work of the kidneys is to remove waste from your body,it is basically a waste management company of your body.Everyday,your blood passes through your kidneys to be filtered.As the blood is filtered,urine is formed and stored in a temporary tank called the urinary bladder.Think of the plumbing work in your house,think of the urinary bladder as a overhead storage tank,a good plumber will run pipes to other parts of the house including the kitchen.God in his wisdom ran a pipe from your bladder to your tip of the pen*s,this pipe is called the urethra.Just below the urinary bladder and surrounding the bladder is a little organ of approximately 20g called the PROSTATE GLAND.Its job is to make the seminal fluid which is stored in the seminal vesicle.During s*xual intercourse,the seminal fluid comes down the urethra to mix with the s***m to form semen.After age 40,for hormonal reasons,the prostate begins to enlarge to about 70-100g,this squeezes the urethra and a man begins to notice changes from the way he urinates.Remember how you were young at 10 or 12 years and would compete on who throws urine to the furthest point? Some would even p*e to the roof!Call his father to do the same and it is wahala!His urine stream is weak and cannot go far,men of advanced age may even be forced to stand in awkward positions to avoid p*eing on their legs and soiling their clothes because their urine stream are as weak as not being able to make a 30 degrees.At this age other symptoms begin such as;
1.TERMINAL DRIPPING-The man notices that after urinating and re-packaging,urine still drops on his pants unlike a young man who delivers to the last drop and walks away.Some are even ashamed after visiting the loo that they clutch the newspaper closely to hide the urine stains on their clothes.
2.HESISTANCY-At this point you wait for too long for urine flow to start.There are 2 valves that must open for you to urinate,the internal and external sphincters but because of the obstruction on the urethra by the enlarged prostate,you wait for for abit too long
3.INCOMPLETE EMPTYING-You experience a feeling after urination that there is still urine left.As all these things happen,the bladder stands in to compensate subconsciously,the frequency of urination goes up and sometimes you have to practically run into the toilet.Nocturia,increased urination at night,sets in,your wife might begin to complain.Most men wont speak to anybody about all these and may even become hesitant to seek treatment for stigma reasons.Stored urine at this stage become infected and brings in a burning sensation on micturition,at some point these urine form crystals,these crystals come together to form stones,either bladder or kidney stones,this now becomes a monster as the stone blocks the urethra and the ureters.Chronic urine retention sets in,the bladder continues to store more and more urine even to a tune of 300cl while the size of the bladder is 40-60cl.An overfilled bladder starts to leak and brings about wetting,some urine may reflux back to the kidneys and brings about kidney diseases and later failures!
All these are related to enlargement of prostate called BENIGN PROSTATE HYPERPLASIA.There are other diseases of the prostate such as Prostatis and prostate cancer.The good news is that all these are preventable by;
1.NUTRITION-Red meat daily predisposes you to these prostate diseases 3 times more likely,milk predisposes you about twice and not taking vegetables and fruits quadruples your risk.Tomatoes are the best for men since it has leads of lycopene,lycopene is the most potent natural anti-oxidant.Food that are rich in zinc such as pumpkins are equally the best.Zinc is the most essential element for male s*xuality and fertility.Everytime a man ejaculates,he loses 15-20mg of zinc.zinc is also important for alcohol metabolism,your liver needs it as much
2.ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION-Drink less,drink slowly or better avoid
3.EXERCISE-Exercise helps build muscle tone.Every man over 40 should avoid high impact exercises that might put pressure on the knees.CYCLING is bad news for your prostate,embrace brisk walking instead
4.SITTING-Sit for as less hors as possible
5.DRESSING-Avoid tight underwears,while your optimal body temperature is 37 degrees,your groin area has an optimal temperature of 33 degrees,pants are a no for men,wear boxers,wear breathable clothing
6.SMOKING-Avoid smoking for the obvious impact it has on our blood circulation.
7.SEX-Regular is good for your prostate as God made it to be adapted to regular emptying.
