A Neurological disorder from acute rheumatic fever, causing involuntary movements and weakness in children (5β15 years).
Causes: π
Autoimmune response post-group A streptococcal infection; antibodies attack basal ganglia.
π Risk factors: untreated strep infections, genetic predisposition.
Symptoms:π
π Involuntary jerky movements (chorea), muscle weakness, poor coordination, unsteady gait.
π Emotional lability, behavioral changes, speech difficulties.
π Worsens with stress/fatigue; improves with rest.
Physiotherapy Management:π

Goals: Improve motor control, strength, coordination, function; prevent complications.

Assessment: Evaluate movement, strength, balance, daily activities.
