Global Sip & Speak Ladies Session – Recap

Our recent international Sip & Speak session brought together women from Washington DC, New York, Cameroon, Scotland, Australia, and across Kenya (Nairobi, Kajiado, Eldoret). With over 12 participants, the conversation was engaging, reflective, dynamic, educational, elevating, and empowering.

This diverse space cut across age, race, religion, and professional backgrounds showing the true power of women uniting for mental health.

We explored:
Life stage transitions
S*xual abuse in the workplace
Family challenges
Self-awareness, acceptance, and self-worth

Together, we unpacked how these issues affect women’s mental health and shared practical skills and tools to cope, grow, and thrive.

Thank you to all who joined and contributed to this powerful session.

Rejesha Project
Restoring hope and dignity for women in commercial s*x work, Nairobi

Since 2021, we have:

Run 7 therapy cohorts

Reached 55 women

Delivered 6-week trauma-focused group therapy with qualified therapists

Through these sessions, women confront past trauma, build emotional resilience, develop healthier coping strategies, and reclaim their dignity.

Impact Story:

Words matter especially when it comes to mental health. Buzzwords like “toxic,” “traumatized,” “trauma bonding,” “bipolar,” or “depressed” are often misused in everyday conversations. But when we use them casually, we strip them of their true meaning and minimize the real struggles people face.

Let’s commit to learning, understanding, and using these terms with care. Language has power it can either stigmatize or create space for healing.

We are not defined by what happened to us. Pain, hurt, and trauma may shape parts of our journey, but they do not dictate our future. The power lies in how we choose to move forward with resilience, strength, and self-compassion.

Taking personal responsibility for your life is one of the most powerful steps toward better mental health.
When you hold yourself accountable for the choices you make rather than blaming circumstances or others you reclaim your power.
Accountability builds resilience, self-trust, and growth. Your well-being starts with the choices you make every day.

A sense of entitlement can quietly harm our mental health. When we believe life owes us only comfort, ease, or success, we set ourselves up for frustration, resentment, and disappointment.

The truth is that challenges are a normal part of the human experience. Pain, hurt, betrayal, and disappointment are not signs of failure they are opportunities for growth. It is often in our hardest seasons that we learn resilience, discover new strengths, and deepen our understanding of ourselves and others.

Healing begins when we shift our mindset from “Why me?” to “What can I learn from this?” Every setback can become a stepping stone toward greater strength and wisdom.

Growth, learning, and resilience are not built in moments of comfort but in how we choose to rise through the storms.
